Emerald Whelpling

my first farmed pet (got him at 44) he has been through every 70 and 80 end-game instance i've run :P and a few 60 end games @ lvl 80! Best advice for farming this lil dude is to destroy everything in the area, skin (or invite a skinner w/u) and then go make a sandwich while they respawn. verry efficient (and delicious) way 2 farm

Of all the dragons in World of Warcraft the Emerald Dragonflight is my second favorite, behind Twilight Drakes. So, when I was hunting for this guy, I made deals with Ysera.

"Please, Ysera, I won't kill another Green Dragon ever again in my spacegoatly life if you give me one of your babies!"

Ysera really could have saved more of her flight earlier had she not let me suffer for 36 hours of farming for this guy.

Ahh, The emerald whelpling. This was one of my first ever pets and took many hours of grinding to obtain. I wish anyone trying to obtain this pet the best of luck.

Of the 4 farmable whelplings, the emerald is and continues to be the hardest to get from a logistical standpoint. Even after Adolescent whelps started dropping them, their little alcove is the smallest spawn zone of the four, and contains the fewest drakes. Coupled with it being right next to the road, thus increasing the odds of competing with someone else, it can be a maddening grind. Is it worth it? Absolutely!

This pet is part of the new special vanity pets tracking achievement which has been data mined from the 3.3 PTR
As Sateena said, "It tracks several of the rarer pets including whelplings, raptor hatchlings, crocolisks and more".

The mobs that drop it only spawn in a tiny pocket in the bottom-left corner of SOS, making it REALLY hard to farm!

This one is so rare! I used to use have a year and killed at least some hundred thousands, but no result:( (before TBC) finally I bought it 1100Gold two weeks ago~~

I still remember the drop of the Azure Whelpling is about some thousand that you spend a limit time at lvl70(or more short at lvl80)

And believe me, I got my first Dark Whelpling in less than 100 mobs at desolate ground during upgrading. But how I regret I sent this to a friend.

Today was on my third day of farming, when I suddenly realized that of course it hasn't dropped yet, I'm missing an important ingredient for farming whelps - the Jenkins title! So, off I went to the UBRS.

Hah, now the whelps should be scared into dropping the emerald whelpling! According to my calculations, I should have a 32.33, repeating of course, percent chance of it dropping.

Of the whelps, I found this the second easiest to farm. I'm on a small server, so I don't need to worry about people popping for a 'quick farm' when they pass the spot on the side of the road. (Of the hardest, I'm finding the Dark Whelpling the worst. It took me 3 days for that one! Although it really is just chance :P) Besides, they're in a circle, for easier farming!

I finally was blessed with an Emerald of my own last night - now for farming off and on for two years and hard hard farming the last three weeks - avg 2 hours a day and several 1000's of deaths... last night I logged on and he was delivered to me on my second kill - so I decided to clear the area since I was there - and yeah - you guessed it - I got a second one on my last kill... years of farming .. and two within 20 minutes.... that is why I love pets =) /hugs emerald whelp

farmed for this for a while and i still dont have it, i got a good feeling about today though.

Oh my goodness I just got the emerald whelpling in the AH for 11G!!!! hehe somebody forgot to add some zeros..

I was bored last night so I started farming this guy for my first time. After about 2 1/2 hours I decided to call it a night and logged off right in SoS. I logged on the next day to find an Orc warrior farming the whelps so I decided to update my WarcraftPets collection. I tabbed back into WOW to find an annoying Dreaming Whelp beating on me so of course I one shot him and... WooHoo!! he was nice enough to drop a new pet for me. First kill of the day.

Finally got my Emerald Whelpling today!! Took me three days! I was so tired i didnt even notice that i had looted him for a few more kills!! This is my favorite by far!! Tho the grind is slow do to spawn rate!

I was in Swamp of Sarrows getting herbs for my alchemy and getting the acheivment for descovering it and i walked in on the welplings and i needed to get to a herb so i killed the welpling blocking my path and it dropped it. first kill on the welplings in SOS.

The 4 whelplings are among my favorite pets of all, I've farmed all 4 of them and I must admit the Green one along with the Blue one are the hardest to grind.
Hopefully in the near future the Bronze whelp will be available so all the flights can be acquired at last.

With the small amount of whelps that actually drop this pet, it's easy to go through all of them and then have to wait for respawns. If you're wanting to be pet farming constantly, I'd suggest using some alts and farming multiple of these small area spawn pets at once, such as the Firefly. Alternatively, you can use alts to camp a rare spawn and use the time to check it every 5 minutes or so.

This was probably the most frustrating whelpling for me to get. My pet collecting character was about level 63/64 when I was searching for this. I found many times that level 80 hordes would come along and kill me meaning I had to wait until another time to try and get the whelpling. I tried on and off for a couple of weeks then went one day after finding the dark whelpling and it dropped after not even doing a full run round

I got it, I got it, I got it! I so thought I never would. I took five days of monotonous, merciless killing of whelps. It was worth it though he is one of the cutest little guys.

Finally got mine! After nearly 800 dead whelps. I almost feel a little bad for the poor things. He's such a lovely little thing, though. Looks almost stealthy around jungles. *chuckles*

I finally got her! I love this pet! My favorite color is green and I couldn't wait to add her to my collection... I felt like I was chipping away at a boulder w/ a toothpick, it took me so long to farm her, but just yesterday I logged on in the swamp, killed two whelps, and she dropped on the second! I was thrilled! And she's smaller than the others I believe... precious! ::hugs Emerald Whelpling 'till her eyes bulge::

This was the last of the 4 whelps I got, and the most annoying to obtain :(

I had to compete with a gold farmer bot for this one, he doubled the time I was there and just as I was about to give up and go for the firefly, it dropped! I love this little guy!

I wanted this one so I camped my lvl 60 DK in the cave and about 3 times a day would log him in while switching characters and do a quick clear. Low and behold on the 3 day I got mine....2 down 2 to go.

Can't believe the luck I got on this one. I decided I wanted to go farm for this pet for the first time, and got him on 5 kills! last up is to get the dark whelpling.
