Just captured my was only a POOR, but I'll use a Battle-stone to upgrade it to's a H/H, so YAY!!...found it at the western location in the Howling Fjord...between 8:30am and 9:00am server time...  I'm sooooo thrilled!  :-)

UPDATE:  Just captured my second (a B/B and a poor that I immediately upgraded)...found it at the northern-most spawn point in the Borean Tundra at about 10:15am server time...  :-)

I got my uncommon Unborn Val'kyr on my first try! I downloaded the addon TomTom, set up the waypoints that I googled and went for a beautiful fly-around. (Also captured some other pets while I was at it.) I was about half-way through my first round when I found it.

I can obviously recommend this to anyone! By flying around from waypoint to waypoint, exploring and capturing other pets, it didn't even feel like camping. Good luck! :D

There needs to be some moderator on the site who resets the ratings on a vastly changed pet so they don't remain as #1 battle pet after a huge nerf. If they are the best still they will get the votes, but many of the top pets have been changed a ton and no longer are the pets people voted for.

not a bug. The Valk received some nerfs in 6.0 because it was too powerful. There is a lengthy forums discussion about the changes to Haunt and how it affects Valk playstyle, if you are interested in learning more.

@Morphic "Why is this pet good?"

Because of haunt:

-a strong DOT

-a free pet swap of your choice

-val'kyr would count as dead and so AoE moves would only hit 2 rather than 3 team members

-could be used to dodge delayed damage moves like whirlpool, etc if used on the final round

-if you were slower than the val'kyr you can also lose a turn when they haunt if you attempt to hit them, as they would be dead when your hit goes off

As of 6.0:

1) Haunt does not work during the undead free turn.  I assume it doesn't work because the Val'kyr cannot die as part of the attack's effect.  Could be a bug but why now?

2) Debuffs on the Val'kyr go into a frozen state when it has used Haunt.  You can't avoid things like Curse of Doom or other timed effects on your Val'kyr by using Haunt and staying dead for the remainder of any debuff's duration.

It's still powerful but these are pretty critical to note right now.

Are they increasing the spawn rate on these with the patch? I just got two in five minutes. I search for them all the time.

Just captured this pet on Ravenholdt server 9:45 P.M. server time. Got the Rare H/H breed. Found her in the northern spawn location of Crystalsong Forest.

While this particular pet may be difficult to find do not give up, it is a pet that can be found with a little patience and determination. I do not recommend simply camping locations, however, a quick flyover of Icecrown, Storm Peaks, and Crystalsong Forest is normally not to bad.

To help, the Kirin Tor Ring that allows you to teleport to Dalaran on a 30 minute cooldown is very useful, and you can also complete the dailies at Argent Tournament grounds at the same time for more pet opportunities.

As my luck always seems to go in Northrend, I found my Val'kyr while flying passed on my way to do something else (same thing happened to me with the Cat Spirit Beast in Zul'Drak.) I was flying through Icecrown toward the Argent Tourny when I saw her, a little east of Mord'Rethar. I swooped down and found a nice Uncommon Val'kyr awaiting me. One Battle Stone later, and I had myself a rare. :D

I found this on my third try at looking on a known place. I accidently killed it doing too much damage.

I have read and have not seen this... Has this ever been seen in the "Back Row" in a Pet Battle? Or is it always going to be the Main Pet???

I am having very bad luck finding this.

This pet is too good, I believe that it needs a  small nerf. A simple cool down on haunt say 3 rounds so it is like other spells of its kind. That way there is actual rewarding counter play to the spell. If it gets dodged then you got outplayed just like every other spell in battle pets. It would still be good but you wouldn't see it on EVERY other team.

Maybe somebody can help a Forsaken out. What is the "preferred" way to catch this elusive battle pet? Should I camp out or fly around to the different locations?

Update: Finally found my Unborn Val'kyr (Common). Took me about a week camping but I finally caught her. Now the question is should I make her "rare" or not? Decisions...decisions....

After 3 hours of searching Northrend I found an uncommon B/B one :) I am really happy, called him "Weeping Angel" as a referrence to Doctor Who.

I completely disagree that the H/H breed is at any disadvantage. That's the one I have, and I routinely beat the other breeds of this pet. Why? If they want to duke it out, I Haunt and come back with plenty of health left to Doom and Haunt the next pet. If they Haunt and Doom mine, then I Haunt their next pet and avoid all that damage (except the first round of Haunt). The extra Health just keeps her keepin' on. I wouldn't swap for a different breed if I could.

Today at about 2:00 PM US CDT, in a small crowd of green paws* just west of Rivers Heart in Sholozar, I found a level 20 poor quality Unborn Val'kyr.   Finally!  I may have a different add-on.  Doesnt show B/B or H/H.  It does say she is a Rare Guardian.  I used a battle stone on her - she is now a level 19 rare.

Max Health - 1806

       Power -  276

       Speed -  228

I think I'm going to enjoy her.  Happy hunting!  (The *Green Paws are from an add-on, in case you use something else.)

Val'kyr are considered "unborn" until they vanquish a creature of high nobility.
