@ Schwank....why would you bother looking for a better quality one to upgrade? Upgrading a poor with a stone is the same as upgrading an uncommon.  This pet is so hard to find, leave them for someone without one...geez

I found mine in Sholazar Basin just north west of the Spearborn Encampment along the grassy ridge by the ocean.

At a quarter hp it used Haunt and "died" which gave me a heart attack thinking I had lost my chance at catching it. I quickly looked up the ability and found out they return to life after 4 rounds. So after beating the extra pets I was able to catch the Val'kyr.

Note: You need to be careful with Haunt, if the pet being haunted dies before the ability ends the Val'kyr dies as well.

Caught this beautiful undead lady this morning around 6 am server time.  She was at 46.0, 42.0 NW of Utgarde Keep in Howling Fjord.  I would suggest using a level 25 Aquatic pet with healing capabilities and surge, as it doesn't do much damage.  After she cast Haunt I just swapped pets so there would be no chance of of my pet dying and killing her!  (Accidentally killed 2 before because of this mistake.)  Good luck, and happy hunting!

Storm Peaks (41,78) 701pm server

Crystalsong (18,57) 720pm server

Sholazar Basin (44,69) 745pm server

All confirmed captures. A few things to consider: They were all in succession, and the "click at the same time" method DOES work.  We gave 5 guildies the pet off 1 spawn. it either despawns because theres a click limit, or it depends on who gets the serverside spawn or the copy spawn, hard to tell. Spawn timers suggest 15 min increments. Hope it helps!

The unborn Valk will ALWAYS be the first pet (thus, he WILL be the "paw" pet).

She spawns in 3 locales per Northrend zone.

Though she is a great pet, all around, she is ideal for PVP. I run a team that I call "Odin's Own," comprising of the Valk and two Crows (Huginn and Muninn).

Valk starts with curse, then shocks until death. Rezzes and drops Unholy Asc. Two crows come in with synergetic Call Darkness and Nocturnal Strike.

The UA paired with high speed crows hitting hard is unstoppable.

After flying over dozens of brown spots, looking for this lady, in every area of Northend (and camping the Grand Masters) for several weeks. I just happened to fly across an uncommon Unborn Val'kry, just north of Nearly Headless Jacob, right on top of the brown spot of the map!

During my dive from max altitude, I picked-out a capture team (with a Turnip) and managed to get her on the third cast.  Then, in an unbelievable bit of luck, I was also awarded a Flawless Undead gemstone!

Can everybody please remember to be more specific when you leave your messages of glee?  Time/place/server, how long you waited, did you make rounds or did you camp firmly in one spot, etc.

Everybody's happy for you, but we want clues on getting one ourselves too. :)

This pet has a bug, in its Haunt ability. The Hit Chance says 'DATA ERROR'. So when I use this ability it just collapses and never resurrect. It is not THAT great at least until the bug is fixed

Placed 3 toons lvl 85 and above at listed spawn points in Zul-Drak and Shalazar Basin.  Not more than 20 minutes past and She spawned at the Big Green Bear (forget name).  As was mentioned, Turkeys are needed for a Food Coma.  Yes, I got her as Common and Stoned her to Rare. Strangly, The Unborn Val'Kyr's paisty white skin reminds me of my exwife, she sort of sounds like her too.  Her ability to Haunt, OMG! It is her in toon form.  Blizzard, you guys scare me. Ya know?

If you have Track "Focus Target" turned ON on your minimap, you'll see the specific location of the /focused spawn.

I found this one in Grizzly Hills at one of Grocklars spawn spots, about 5mins after the servers were up.

Also, I just killed a moth in Shrine and I can confirm that the Unborn Val'kyr DOES resurrect dead critters, it's unique to this battle pet to have such a neat animation.

I can now also confirm that much like Willy, this effect occurs exactly every 3 minutes if a dead critter is around.

Found mine right away upon logging in when servers were up. It was a primary pet (I also had a /tar unborn val macro that worked). 2 critters were with her in the battle. No idea what the spawn timer is though. Found it NE Zul'Drak but I heard spawns are completely random

I have 3 of these now. I am currently holding one for a friend.

Important: If you engage her and she is using Unholy Ascension as her slot 3, DISENGAGE and engage her again, I just did, while holding her and she went from slot 3 UNHOLY ASCENSION to HAUNT.

You won't have to worry about her commiting suicide then :)

Happy Hunting!

After a long journey, I got mine today!

My first two spawns (one at the coast in Sholazar, one near Temple of Life in Storm Peaks) ended up killing themselves in some way or another, but I finally caught mine north of Conquest Hold in Grizzly Hills.

Based on my findings, I guess that there can only be one up and it respawns every hour or so.

I suggest resetting the fight when she has Unholy Ascension in her skill list! Works as long as no other hunter is close, of course.

Mottomoot, battle pets of the type of stone you want with lower level pets you have to get battle stones.

I found mine in West Crystalsong. I accidentally had a critical hit bring her hp to 7. Be careful, as others have mentioned, she has an ability to kill herself. Try not to let that happen. I recommend putting her in a food coma using a Turkey. It's for her own protection.

I found mine at 65,35 in Dragonblight (very close to where I'd found one earlier). NPCSCAN doesn't seem to like the Unborn Val'kyr. I added the ID code to mine, but it never popped—even when I was standing right next to one. The macro suggested by Shaw in the comments at wowhead, though, DID work:

/tar Unborn Val'kyr

/stopmacro [noexists]

/script PlaySound("RaidWarning")

/run RaidNotice_AddMessage(RaidBossEmoteFrame,"Unborn Val'kyr!", ChatTypeInfo["RAID_WARNING"])

Val'kyr are considered "unborn" until they vanquish a creature of high nobility.
