Hyacinth Macaw

If you are going to farm this pet, be prepared for long long hours out there, and the occasional upset lvl 40 doing the pirates quests. Best thing to do is be respectful and not kill the captains if you see players around.

This was finally changed to epic rarity! While awesome to make sure you don't miss it if you are farming, sadly, the days of lowbies posting this on the AH for 3g are probably over. :(

I wish they'd fix the one pirate right next to the Booty Bay cave, the guard always kills him... The pirates spawn 3 main spots that are close, small beach with Duncan, long beach with vendor, then 3 boats. Nice easy path to follow.

Also keep an eye out for "First Mate's Hat" which is as rare as the parrot itself, is a unique graphic pirate hat, though doesn't tend to fetch much on the AH because people don't know it exists. It drops off of the same pirates as the Macaw.

This little fella is the same colour and model as Aotona, making it a perfect companion for hunters who've tamed her. And it's arguably the nicest parrot for Bloodsail Admirals. :)

My recommendation for this pet is very simple. You know that Death Knight you leveled to 58 and then forgot about? Finish leveling it to 61 so you get Path of Frost, and then run willy-nilly between the ships killing pirates. It makes the whole experience much easier and even a little fun.

This pet warms my heart. i farmed every day for 6 months to get this and the emerald whelp. I was getting frusturated by my lack of luck and expressed this to my best friend, she did the normal non-collector thing and laughed at me for "waisting my time". Then for 3 days straight she was to buisy on alts to run dungeons with me, i got worried untill she wanted me to meet her in Stormwind, she opend a trade window and put not only this but the emerald whelp in. i cryed!!!! BEST FRIENDS ROCK

If you average out the drops listed on wowhead you end up with a chance of 1 in 10,000 for this elusive but beautiful parrot to drop. This matches the rate listed on allakhazam also.

I have attempted to farm this pet on 5 different chars, and finally it drops, I would recommend killing all Bloodsail Buccaneers - even the ones around Gurubashi Arena. Mine dropped from the camp just north of the Nagas. Have fun farming this epic pet :)

If you are a warlock don't forget to put a Demonic Circle on the deck of those Bloodsail ships so when you collect all the mobs and AoE at the lowest deck you can easily teleport out...

I was really lucky with this pet. My friend told me someone in his guild found it, so I spoke to him. And he offered to give me it if i boosted him in ZG. So, boost him in ZG i did, and Hyacinth Macaw was mine!

If you have trouble with the pirates being killed by people doing the quests then it's always a good idea to farm it in the early morning or late at night, or you can always sneak on the boat and steal Treasure... ;D but you better run after, pirates
don't like it when you steal thier parrots.

Finally got my Macaw today after a month of solid 6 hour a day grinds, and after seeing it drop for the random person next to me T_T All in all, it really is one of the hardest grinds to do but when you see it drop it's just..an amazing feeling :P The best route, imo, is to start at the top of the beach near the vendor hit the two boats that are together, then swim across to the third. From there i swam back to the beach to clear there to let the two boats re-spawn more :) Good luck guys ^.^

I just got it - what a rush! was combining the farm with rep build for the Goblins and I estimate it took 30-40k kills and I had just about given up hope!!!! yay

A great pet. However i think Blizz need to update the animation to give justice to this rare specimen, it flaps a little too fast when moving... but for now i'm happy to standing around cos it's still animation is lovely =D.

The grind its self is not a waste, u can pick up loads of things to sell on the AH from cloth, sellable gear, pages... and when ur bags are full (and they will get full =P) you can just stop off at Cowardly Crosby tailor. GL

This was the pet that started my collection. I got it while questing around level 40 in Booty Bay. I didn't think of it as any different from the other parrots you get in the game. That is, until I equipped it. This was years ago before the achievements. I've been collecting pets ever since, and am glad to see it has become such a popular thing to do! I'm also really glad I don't have to shill out 15k for it :-P

Just a tip: If you are a rogue & have the glyph that allows you to sprint on water, it's very helpful or you may be going through a lot of water walking potions going from the shore to the boats. Also, have a secondary spec that give you preparation so you can refresh that sprint cd.

Got this pet Sunday evening. Took me around 1000 kills over a few weeks total. Dropped off the group by Pretty Boy Duncan. If you are hunting this pet don't give up. The more time you put in, the more likely you will get it too. Just don't try to get it in one day then get discouraged when it doesn't drop. Do it for a few hours a day so you don't get bored/frustrated. Besides, who doesn't like chilling on the beach, even if it is an internet beach :).

my wife got this about 2 years ago on her shammy. we share an acount. now a year later i see she has it, but my warroir tank is my pet collector, so now i am going to push the odds and get a 2nd one to drop for the same toon. ill let you know in 3 years when it happens, lol

This pet was the one that got me into collecting when I first started. At a lowly lv 19, I had already decided this was the most awesome pet at that time (and is still even now one of the best imo). I checked AH often, and one day had the fortunate luck of seeing it on 40 silver buy out! Sure, that's not alot but I was new (read: n00blet or whatnot) so I sold all my gear to buy it! My heart goes out to those who still search for this beauty and I hope you get it!

I just saw this on the horde bloodscalp ah for 20,000g buyout...I think I should start farming. Haha GL to those farming this beauty!

Well, this, is really awesome! The price here now is about 100,000 G and there're only buyers. I know only one owner in our server in Alliance side. It must got crazy if you have a mind to farm it!

when i was leveling in the area i got this drop. it was almost 2 years ago. i had it out for a bit, commented how it was a pretty purple and would match my girly priest, and then tired of it. i have never liked the bird pets, and i.....


....deleted it....

ya. if only i had known now what i did then, i would have kept that baby. i had NO idea how rare this pet was!! *headdesk*
