The Magic Lamp formula is a BoP Alliance only recipe, however the created item itself is BoU. The formula costs 20 hypnotic dust, and can be purchased from multiple Enchanting Supply Vendors located in the major Alliance capitals.

The recipe can also be purchased from an NPC named Senthii, located within the alliance starting area called Highbank in the Twilight Highlands. Note that the zone is phased upon entering, and Senthii as well as other vendors will be inaccessible until players complete the initial quest chain for their faction. Twilight Highland quests have a minimum level of 84.

The Horde version of this pet is the Enchanted Lantern.

Just bought mine, I couldn't believe I found it in the Auction House in Org! I have seriously thought of leveling an alliance character to make one for myself. 3000 G...but still worth it :)

This pet, in my opinion, seems beautiful and perfect for any RPer. Enjoy your lamps!

I'd just like to say don't be afraid to roll an ally toon and ask in trade if someone is willing to help you get this. I rolled a lvl 1 human, went to SW, asked in trade, and pretty quickly got 2 responses. One guy said he was willing to list it at neutral AH for the price of the mats, the other said he would list one the neutral AH for the super low price of 500g(all the ones listed on the Ally AH were 2k, and 500g was well below the price of mats, he just wanted to help a fellow collector).

Trading another faction's enchanter for the pets might be worth your time cause you both can sell it for a big profit. or be happy little collectors. Maelstroms crystals are going down in price with 4.1 so much easier to get this. They cost 8 Heavenly Shards , 4 Greater Cosmic Essences, and 1 Maelstrom Crystal

I thought I had a great deal in buying what I thought was the Horde lamp for 3k and change on the AH. Turned out to be this one! I feel really lucky.

I had my Shaman Enchanter friend make one of these for me a few weeks ago. He had most of the mats so it cost me almost nothing (my guild is so good with things like that...I give extra herbs to our scribe etc. We like to pay it forward. /lecture about being kind to others)

I love my lamp! The way it's like little tinkling bells when you click? Love. It.

Had to use my boyfriend today to help me use the nuetral AH to purchase this today. I bought it for 2681gold on the alliance AH and sold it to my boyfriend for 100g on the nuetral AH...then switched to my main hordie and got it! was too frightened that someone had one of those scary auction addons that would buy it up if i put it up for a copper lol.

Could you potentially buy this pet off the neutral ah and therefore get both faction lamps?

I dropped a silly amount of gold for the first maelstrom crystal to show up on ah on my server... I like this pet because you can clearly see it when it follows your flying mount, I feel that most other flying pets are barely visible when you fly around. It sits quite high in the air when you're on the ground, a bit too high up for my gnome really, I hope they lower that a little bit at some point.

I crafted one of these today, I had an insane impulse and bought one of the few boe epics that have shown up on my server at a ridiculous price and promptly disenchanted it for the maelstrom crystal needed. Somewhere a hunter is crying, but the pet is very nice! It flies with you on your flying mount!! Makes a faint tinkling sound if you click on it.

This pet is such a wonderful energy saver. It doesn't use any electricity or batteries. The downside is that I can't seem to find its "off" switch whenever I want to go to sleep. Bad lamp! Bad!
