I just got this litte guy awhile ago. I got someone to help me kill "Spawn of Ganuths" and no pet dtopped. So I did my research, and reliazed that I killed the wrong one ! :O. So I went looking for the real one and I got group going for it. I had to kill him three times before i finally won the roll of 93 on it :D. I was so happy! And Ganthus's respawn timer is 10mins. I hope this helps people, goo luck and happy collecting an hunting!! :)
Am I just lucky? Just bought on the AH for 2300 G, not sure if that's a good price. But with other rares I dont see to often, seemed like it was very low.
Don't confuse G'nathus, with Spawn of G'nathus.
Pet itself doesn't drop from Spawn of Gnathus. (which has 4m hp)
It drops from G'nathus. (40m hp) And it appears to be %100, but one per kill, not to all members.
well not 100% drop rate on the pet for sure.. I got a mote and fangs just now :(
Managed to kill him with a hunter he mostly dps'ed him down since im a disc Priest and the only thing that i could do is smite =D. He can be kited aswell. It took us 11min to get him down =) But it's worth the time... =D
We three manned this, Firemage, Ele shaman and Resto druid. Was pretty fun - and I have to say, I just love my eel. We'll be killing this until all three of us have our eels =)
Think outside the box, he can be snared, stunned, rooted, and hibernated!
we had a group of 6 and farmed up a bunch of these spawn time is within 10 minutes coords are 25,7 in townlong
I would really like to get this one! But I'll need some help! I play on The Sha'tar (EU). Please drop me a message if there are other ppl interested in getting this! And with the respawn timer not being that bad, I'm more than willing to stick around and help others get it too that might want it!
He indeed hits like a truck. Some AoE lightning breath, mostly melee dmg.
North most area in water on Isle of Shan'ze Dao in Towne Long Steppes. Loc 25, 6. Look for the 2 caged cloudrunner hatchlings by the top of the cliff.
A few pointers that helped a group of 4 (War tank, Monk healer, Mage and me - shad priest)
There is a small rock area you can sit and rest and tag him & helps to reset if things are going bad and to drink up on a corpse run. Nearly a direct line after a slight turn if you do die.
You need to be in the water for the fight, just prepare to see him rise above it once engaged. AoE damage will aggro 2 small reef pincer crabs that are easy to kill but you will not aggro anything else.
He respawned approx 5-10 min

Soloed with hunter. Easy, but long fight. :)
easy kill in a group of 5 - one tank, 1 healer 3 dps had no problems at all. Had a very kind friend that won the roll and gave the pet to me :)

G ' nathus spawns a the far north of the most northern island in townlong and patrols the top part of the island back and fourth. He has a 10 min respawn timer and for an easy kill get a healer, good tank and 1 - 3 dps.He is best fought from one of the small ledges with the tank in the water (so healers have somewhere to put totems and statues if needed) try and interrupt his lighning breath for healers mana. Drop rate on the pet is 100%. pet is both sellable without learning as an item or cageable later on.

Was lucky enough to have some fantastic guildies who took the time out to help me kill G'nathus (hits like a truck!) and they all passed on the pet so I could have it. I then helped two other groups and it dropped everytime.
He is no longer in a bubble (like he was in PTR) instead he is free and alot more electrified. A great pet!
Just got that pet today with the help of some guildies , that elite hurt like a truck so i needed some help ! They all passed and let me have the pet :)
I think it looks very nice and i was also surprise not seeing him in a bubble even tho he is technicly an eel ... living in water .. :P
A friend got it and it is indeed cageable
Unless you can put out an impossible amount of ranged damage and heal yourself while kiting him around the island, chances are you won't be able to kill him by yourself in less than an hour. I'd recommend a group of 3-5 people with at least one healer. Have the most heavily armored DPS kite him if you don't have a tank. Also note that if you get too close to the rocks/shore, he WILL bug and evade you and you'll have to start all over so make sure to kite him at safe distance from shore!
Killed G'nathus at 10:29 server with 7 buddys, but I didn't win the roll. The boss respawned at 10:41 server.. spawned agen 10min later! and droped the pet every time. :) ( only took a group of 5 to kill him the last 2 times )
Patch Day. So after trying and failing solo, I came back with a healer friend to try again, and realized that what I was missing was glyphed Curse of Exhaustion (for 70% snare). The lightning does ~70k every 5-10s, which I think could be managable (by some classes) solo. Took ten minutes, waterwalking around the isle.
He does not live in a bubble, as the General Info tab here pictures. He slithers around a few inches off the ground. Cannot fly, unfortunately.
