With Dingo's info and the announcement of upcoming mini holidays, I'm guessing April 5th's "March of the Tadpoles" holiday will be the most likely time to find this little guy.
for those that haven't seen the upcoming stuff yet :)
@Dingo - Great info, thanks. However next time maybe protect your source so they don't get busted for helping out.
Maybe something during Childrens Week?
Flibbit - curious about testing running around with any of the currently exsisting murloc pets. Will see about testing that over the next few days. But I do have a feeling it ends up being some sort of mini event.
NOT related to "No Shellfish Endeavour", as that achievement grants a toy, not a pet.
And yes, I do have the toy and achievement..
I wonder if this has anything to do with the "No Shellfish Endeavour" achievement recently added, although it does involve "Murky"and not "Squirky". I have completed all three parts of this achievment, but it has not proc'd as completed for me.
I've also been exploring the island in Azsuna. I tried exploring with Skaggldrynk potions in case he was hidden but there was nothing there.
Suntaile - I think you (and others) are right. Yep, Squirky is indeed the same color as the murlocs on this island and the journal entry for the pet now fits with this location. I had seen details about the island elsewhere and went to take a look with a friend.
We cleared a path to the top of the island where the Wavecaller (big murloc) is, and nothing happened after killing it. The clutch of "Pristine Squigglefin Egg"(s) nearby with a mobile hanging over it does make it seem like this is the right spot though.
We tried sitting on the eggs, singing to them, setting a campfire underneath/nearby, but nothing we tried made a difference. There was nothing in the treasure pile behind the Wavecaller (including the humongous pearl) that could be clicked. I also looked for underwater cave entrances around the island, but found nothing. Still, I will not be surprised if this turns out to be the spot and we just haven't figured out what the trigger is yet.
Perhaps they might start spawning tomorrow (11/16/16). The anniversary may be the special time of year and it starts tomorrow. Pretty sure it used to say something about Novemeber.
If it is not during anniversary, it could be during Christmas, as a simple google of "special time of year" has many hits for Christmas.
Other than that it could be in April during the micro holiday "March of the tadpoles" As actual real tadpoles in real life usually emerge in April.
It currently does say in game that it is from a pet battle in the great sea.
There is a small island far outside Azuna that is filled with grown up murlocs of the same colorisation who also has a nest at the top of the island which has crates with "Pristine Squigglefin eggs" in it. I would assume there will be an event where they hatch or that you need to do something in order to be able to loot or hatch them.
now that it's november maybe we should investigate how to get this pet. https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/5ajsvt/me_and_a_friend_have_been_investigating_how_to/ reddit thread made for it, me and a friend have been investigating its whereabouts
The anniversary pet is the Corgi Pup, and the Blizzcon pet is Legionaire Murky & Captain-Knight Murky...Thinking coming with 7.1 updates as per decription below.
Blizcon is 2 pets, not choice of 1.
I believe this pet is a cross promotion for the new Traveler book series.
Its not from blizzcon as the goodie bag has one of 2 different pets to chose from.
Read the description this is out in November.
"During November, a secretive clan of murlocs often sends young tadpoles out to explore, adventure, and begin their tale."
I get the feeling this is related to the chain of murloc tadpole quests on the NW coastal area in Highmountain.
My guess is it is part of a promotion with World of Warcraft: Traveler, the new children's book coming out October 25th.
