Zone: Ironforge, Orgrimmar

World Event: Feast of Winter Veil

Father Winter's Helper

Green Helper Box

Item Level 1

Binds when used

Use: Right Click to summon and dismiss your helper. Requires a Snowball to summon.

This is one of four BoU Winter Veil pets that drops at random from the [Gaily Wrapped Present]. You must be level 20+ to loot this item. This item appears under the Winter Veil tree in Ironforge (alliance) or Orgrimmar (horde) on and after December 25th through January 1st, but the [Green Helper Box] can often be found at auction year-round.

As of Patch 4.3, the Father Winter's Helper no longer requires a snowball to summon. This companion is also very vocal about being summoned outside of the Winter Veil holiday, and will not remain by the player's side during the off season.

During the Feast of Winter Veil, this companion will summon and ride their very own miniature reindeer when players mount up on a ground mount.

Use a pet leash on one of these guys, and it looks so sad.

I used a low level of this awesome pet to do in those pesky poor to uncommon Tiny Harvesters found when trying to farm a rare one. It's a real time saver. I got irritated with the prolonged "back to life" aspect of mech battle. With the Winter Helper, the kill is faster, and becomes almost fun. Not a rare? 1. Launch the ice tomb. 2. Cast Blizzard. 3. Throw a snowball. This generally does the Harvester in. ZZZzzzap! Harvester comes back to life. 4. Ice Tomb falls from the sky, killing it permanently. 5. Next!

Even with mid-road stats(276 power and speed) Winter's Helper has some great tools. Excellent synergy with Call Blizzard with Ice Lance, very nice match with Tiny Snowman or Kun-Lai Runt. Both Ice Tomb and Gift of Winter's Veil both hit hard, and unless you opponent can avoide Ice Tomb will also stun. Having elemental attacks makes this humanoid dangerous to mechanicals. Quite nice pet that can be powerful in the right environment.

I encountered a glitch with this pet earlier today. A person in Pet Battles Polymorphed this into a frog with a frog's ability, and it was turned into a completely white frog. When the polymorph effect ended, it turned into a blank white model DIFFERENT from the Father Winter's Helper Model. I have a screenshot right here. http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/347/7/f/a_bug_in_pet_battles__world_of_warcraft__by_drybones0-d5nxdnu.jpg

This pet is really a very powerful battle pet. I have found it works extremly well paired with the abilities of the snowman and the reindeer companions as well as other pets that benefit from Chilled.

I just noticed that this guy now mounts a little reindeer when you are on a mount. However if you fly away he doesn't follow. :( He can only follow ground mounts. That little reindeer should fly IMO.

As of 4.3, this elf will hearth out if you summon him when it is not Winter Veil, because he has to much work to do? Wouldn't Winter Veil be his busiest time? He is defiantly not a procrastinator.

My best advice for a way to "farm" this pet, as well as the other Winter's Veil pets, is to level a whole bunch of alts to lv20+. This in itself shouldn't take long, and it guarantees more chances at actually getting the pets for free, and not having to pay for them.

Also, if you do buy them, try to do it when there's an abundance on the AH. Come July-August, these pets can fetch as much as 10k+, depending on your server.

Originally this pet had a standard hat hairstyle just like the one shown on Player characters. It was changed in a recent patch along with his female counterpart.

These off-season allies work tirelessly to prepare for the Feast of Winter Veil, and would appreciate not being disturbed the rest of the year.
