Players can start their own personal farms at Halfhill in the Valley of the Four Winds at level 85. When harvesting fully grown crops, players will have a small chance of looting an Ominous Seed. If planted, the seed will grow and yield the Terrible Turnip when harvested.

I just bought mine for 17gp in AH ...i think someone messed up?
just got mine yesterday after at least two months of continuous farming
can anyone tell me if there are any other battle pets with a similar ability?
I had the same problem, namely that weakening blow killed a rare Lofty Libram - so annoying. Happened on 13th April.
This appears to be bugged now (Feb 17)? I just had mine kill a lofty libram pet with weakening blows. :( After I'd finally found an uncommon one!
This is an amazing pet to farm lower level pets because it offers a move to bring pets to 1 hit point. Works well in combination with human pets with sunny day. Highly recommended utility pet.
Ijust bought mine for 195g after trying to farm it for a month. Best money I ever spent. That being said, there's a level 25 turnip in the Eonar AH for 15000g. Wish I could afford that one.
A must have for a capturing team. Saves you the pain of losing your level 2 rare to a big hit. Get yours today!!!
I appreciate the comments about buying it from the AH. I bought mine for 175g, which is so very worth not having to literally "farm" it.
Been trying to grow this tunip for a couple of months, without success. Bought one on the AH today, for a mere 144g. Levelling it like mad, to take full advantage of its wonderful Weakening Blow.
[Edit] Got him to 25 in one day. Now I can use a high-level group to capture a low level rare, which saves so much time.
Best 300 gold (bought in AH) ever spent. This guy is ADORABLE! <3
I can confirm that you can get the Turnip multiple times. I just harvested my second one, and I now have two in my Pet Journal. I think I'll sell the second one, since I just use the Turnip for safely capturing low-level pets (Weakening Blow is great for that).
This is one of my favorite pets and is always on my team. He is very useful in both capturing ones that you do not wish to kill and also against the Darkmoon Faire battle trainer - the tidal wave ability is awesome
Can this be gotten from planting songbells and did they lower the drop rate for it ?
I farmed vegetables for all the different cooking ways, am 600 in everything for at least a week already now and been planting songbells since then, but still no luck with getting this pet :/
Is it possible to get it more then once ?
Not having had the expansion yet, I've been watching the AH price fall sharply until it reach 450g today. I'd jsut sold several frostweave bags for 240 each so cheap as chips.
I love this pet. Its first ability cannot take a target below 1, which makes it really effective for farming low level pets. It should be essential for anyone who wants to collect pets fast and easy. No more worrying about accidently killing it too.
In battles, this ability can be swapped out for one that damages the whole enemy team, combined with healing abilities, this pet does really well against many types of teams.
Looking forward to using this pet in battle. I was lucky enough to have this seed drop on my third day of farming. At the time, I didn't know what the ominous seed was when it dropped but I planted it anyways.
My boyfriend looted the seed today, and almost trashed it because he didn't know what it was. Then realised when I was complaining about not having the pet >.>
To answer several folks' questions, the Terrible Turnip grows from an "Ominious Seed," which is a random drop from any crop you harvest.
