Notes:
This pet is received via an in-game mail sent to all characters (current and future) on all accounts tied to a Battle.net account that has been linked to a Blizzard Authenticator. If the authenticator is removed from a Battle.net account, the Core Hound Pup will disappear from the collection of all of characters associated with the account. If an authenticator is reattached, the pet will be re-mailed to all characters. If you switch authenticators while in-game, the pet will remain intact.

Breanni Says:

When I adopted that core hound from Ragnaros, he didn't tell me it was pregnant... or that core hounds have 666 puppies to a litter! Ambitious as I am, I thought it would be fun to teach them to beg, fetch, and roll over, but then they wouldn't stop! You can imagine how many fires were set by 666 flaming puppies rolling around. My shop nearly burned to the ground! Glad I found some nice folks that needed a guard dog — confining my water elemental to fire duty was getting to be a nuisance.

A reward to those who use an authenticator, a guard dog. This pet is promotional if anything to sell authenticators, but its also useful in the fact that if you have this pup out a hacker may think twice before choosing you as their next victim.

This is a Pet siezed version of the red Core hound

this is the third dog-related companion pet released, and fourth if you also count the Curious wolvar pup

This pet is almost continually doing its active idle animations (yes I note the irony). If it isn't up on its hind legs begging, it's digging for a bone, fighting over said bone, or rolling over. Basically, it's just REALLY excited to be your pet.

Oh and like KT, and some of the other newer pets, he is GIGANTIC on pet biscuits. This can lead to targeting issues, especially if you are a tank and he's doing his begging animation.

This Pup's no Prairie Dog I'll tell you that. He just shows how far Blizzard has come from simple pets, such as Cockroaches and Snakes that...in all truth don't do much, to these beautiful and elaborate new pets who are constantly active all the time.

Unlike its larger predecessor, this core hound is NOT for looting. ;)

"You'd better be telling the truth, you two-faced dog."

"I can get you one of them, actually. Very good guard dogs. They can watch the back and the front door at the same time."

Once again, my heart melts for a miniaturized version of a raid boss. Oh Blizzard, how many more tiny (fiery) bundles of love must you drop into my lap? My romantic soul cannot handle having so many adorable critters in my stores yet being able to use only one at a time. It's cruel, I tell you! CRUEL!

The authenticator uses Kerberos security. Kerberos is also the 3-headed hound that guards the gates of Hades.

Also similar to KT and the Pandaren Monk, summoning this pet has an animation where your hands light up on fire.

The letter that comes with this little pup is as follows:
Hello!
Please give a warm welcome to your fiery, friendly, core hound pup!
I'm so happy you could give this feisty little fellow a home.
~Breanni

I believe this pet is as good as the Pandaren Monk or Lil' K.T. pets. His animations are darling & the frequency of them is unlike any pet. Sadly I haven't noticed and special animations linked to actions like /siting /howling etc.

Although they've moved away from achievement pets for every 25 pets learned, it's nice to see Blizzard using pets as a carrot for things they want players to do. This pup is much better than Mr. Chilly (sorry, Chilly), who's pretty boring. This guy is as interesting as any pet in the game, and a definitely five-star one.

I'm not a BM hunter, but anyone with a core hound pet needs to have this one out full time.

The Core Hound is most likely modelled after Cerberus - the mythical beast who guards the gates of hell.

Since we now receive a Core Hound pet along with having an Authenticator, you could say that it's the one guarding your account from potential threats. :)

This little guy does not interact with Fetch Ball, but you can clean him. Seems the last few pets (Pandaren Monk) Blizzard didn't make to interact with some of the vanity pet items from Breanni.

Love this little hound.
The animations are top-notch and he is extremely active.
One of the best pets released in my opinion.
I Think they put such a cool pet along with the Authenticator to help make people want to be safer with all the excessive hacking going around lately.
Glad i already had mine.

Do you have to purchase the actual physical authenticator in order to get this pet? I noticed there was a downloadable iphone app authenticator that was free. I'm assuming that the core-hound pup only comes with the authenticator you have to pay for. Anybody know for sure?

Just learned today that if oyu have the Hellhound out at the same time oyu have this pet out they will fall in love and have the hearts over their heads. This is similar to what happens with Stinker

This is in response to Shizuka :

The rarity of the pet decreases with the increase of the percentage of people on Warcraftpets confirm that they HAVE the pet.

Bought my wife an Ipod Touch on boxing day and promptly installed the Authenticator. Such a cute pet.

This guy can be put on the red pet leash. My Pandaren Monk cannot. How about KT? I'm buying him later this week. By the way, remove the authenticator and the pet gets removed from the list of pets but it still counts towards your achievements. Not that I'd recommend doing anything that would remove quite possibly the cutest pet in game from your account!

Since you only get this little guy if you have an Authenticator tied to your account, some guilds are using him as a security feature on the guild bank: people don't get access until they show their Corehound Pup pet.
