Notes:
To date, this is the only non-combat pet which actually affects combat. Its 'Disgusting Aura' grants -20 defense, -20 to all resistances, and adds a green tint to the owner (group members remain unaffected by this aura). Much like Jubling, if you offer a [Dark Iron Ale Mug] to this pet, it will eagerly move toward it and lap it up.

Breanni Says:

Who could possibly want a pet that reduces your combat ratings? Plenty of people, including my undead shadow priest! Since she typically fights from a distance, she can handle the debuffs. Plus, she can override the oozeling’s green tint with the purple tint of her shadowform. Neat, huh?

This was by far the hardest pet I have farmed. I spent countless hours in both EPL and Felwood killing slimes.

It is at least slightly more palatable because it drops from the bags, not directly from the slimes. That way, I got a little excited on each bag drop, though after so many bags without the little guy, even that got old.

I brought out no one but him for months after finding him back in 2006 some time I believe.

From personal experience, the most rewarding place to farm the oozeling is in Western Plaguelands, in the northern cave. it doesn't serve any purpose, but is a nice place to farm old alchemy and on a rare occasion, leatherworking plans. Not to mention, the random herbs are a nice way to make money.

Expect quite a bit of time farming for it.

The best place to farm for this, if you're a miner, is the two scars in EPL (Infectis Scar and Pestilent Scar). There's a guaranteed rich thorium vein in each scar and lots of slimes, and they respawn rather quickly as you travel between them and clear all the slimes. In the three or so days I farmed for this pet, I made 2,500g from selling all the thorium I mined in the process so this is a great place to make extra money AND get a pet.

Edit: The herbs sell really well on AH too, obvs. XD

On my hunter, I like bringing out this pet when im using the Spirit of Koosu pet, http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=29034#comments

it looks like ive got a little ooze following a big ooze, like the ones in Hellfire peninsula. maybe im just weird.

Although it's technically a lower drop than the whelplings, I'd have to say it's one of the easier pets to farm. Hope is renewed each time a bag drops, so you only really get let down when the bag is filled with silver and herbs, or when a bag doesn't drop for a long time.

The best area to farm this pet are the scars in EPL. I recommend setting a goal, like save up ten bags before opening them. It makes it a lot more exciting and keeps you from getting bored.

Oh, the Oozeling. I spent days out in the Eastern Plaguelands. I killed thousands of oozes, got dozens of bags, but to no avail! Finally, on the brink of giving up, my friend advised me to take a break. Without telling me, he snuck out to the Plaguelands. A few hours later, he calls me to come online, and promptly opens trade. Lo and behold, an oozing bag! You can imagine my shock. I open the bag, and there sits my little darling!
I could have cried.
To this day,the Ooze is still my favorite.

Please be mindful of the aura and DO NOT summon this pet during raids - I've seen many people die fairly quickly while tinged a familiar green during certain encounters. :P

Hello,
This pet is part of the new special vanity pets tracking achievement which has been data mined from the 3.3 PTR
As Sateena said, "It tracks several of the rarer pets including whelplings, raptor hatchlings, crocolisks and more".

I'm farming while writing this. If you decide to go to the Weeping Cave in Western Plaguelands, note that mob spawns alternate. Where you kill an elemental, a slime/ooze will spawn and the other way round. Do yourself a favor, kill them all. ;)

I farmed 2 oozes from the Weeping Cave in WPL. It takes somewhere between 2 & 4 hours of killing everything in the cave to get the ooze. You do get a number of rare patterns, herbs, living essences, recipes, & green/blue items. Just make sure you have enough room to loot tons of stuff & still open the ooze bags.

21 Oozing bags total
EPL scar farming (the two scars around Corin's Crossing)
Between 5-6 hours total farming

Great to farm with a miner because of the rich thorium nodes that spawn in each scar.

happy hunting and thanks for your time

if you have the pet and mount up with a large mount e.g: any giant mammoth, both you and the mount turn green :) bit of showing off, hey

Ahh, the oozeling. A personal favorite of mine, perhaps because of the unusual way I came to possess one.
I'd been farming him consistently for months in EPL & WPL with no luck, & had finally just given up.
Then came the Lunar Festival this year, & as I was crossing Un'Goro Crater on my way to Silithus to visit the Elders, I came upon a random ooze, killed it just for the fun of it, & he dropped an Oozing Bag. And within the bag, was the pet.
I STILL can't believe my extraordinary luck.

This pet is definitely a time consumer. I agree that Eastern Plaguelands is a good place to farm for it. I could do a good run around the scars and get close to 10 bags per run, depending on the finicky drop rate lol. Setting goals and keeping focused is a must for this pet.

There are many places to farm for this, and some good reasons for each place. I primarily farmed in Un'Goro and Felwood. There's a nice circular route you can use in Felwood, as well as the possibility to find the rare ooze mob that has the highest drop rate of them all. I also farmed in Un'Goro because there you can get soil to either use for the Morrowgrain reputation repeatables for Thunder Bluff or to sell on the AH. This was fun to farm because of the bags that you get to open!

For some time this pet was not only valuable to pet collectors, but to raiding guilds who were looking to cheese the C'Thun encounter in AQ by making a macro to summon the pet quickly, knocking off a very pesky debuff that was replaced by the oozeling aura.

Two straight days, non-stop farming in EPL.

I seriously lost count of how many oozes I killed for this thing, but I have to tell you that it's worth it when you see how many people see it by your side.

Now, I've got to be crazy as I'm setting my character up for grinding up to get another one for my Worgen in Cataclysm.

If you're serious about this one, head to EPL and goto the P Scar, near Light's Hope Chapel.

Get ready for the long haul.

I was farming for this just last night (after having spent 2 days farming all 4 whelps), and I got this little guy fast. On my 7th bag, he dropped. I like to believe it was to make up for the awfulness of farming the emerald whelp. :) Killed the Tainted Oozes in Felwood. :)

I got this on my Warrior while levelling in Felwood, only to be a complete noob and use it, not thinking that in the future this would elude my poor deathknight pet collector for soooo long.

Oozeling is a great pet to own and one of the rarest around but the aura's penalty while rather meaningless encourages owners not to pull / keep him out.

If you're finding this grind tedious as I did, you can easily turn it into a drinking game! Every time you find an oozing bag that does not contain the oozeling you so desire, take a drink. When you find the ooze, then finish your booze. If alcohol isn't your thing (or... legal), it can be easily substituted for any other beverage, candy, or Pavlovian treat. Just make sure you're suitably rewarded for each bag found. Even if you don't get an ooze, you'll at least be end up happy.
