Classic only pets?

In the Blizzard store I just noticed that there are Classic only pets available. I don't play Classic so I don't remember what stage of pet collecting they're at right now, but am I correct that there's no way to get these in Retail? I would have to buy them and wait till Classic catches up?

Correct - Any pets listed in the Blizzard Classic Store are usable in only Classic.

It's unknown if Classic will ever truly "catch up" to Retail, and if the collections will eventually merge or not.

Classic and Retail are treated as two completely different games. I wouldn't bother buying the classic pets unless you actually play classic.

So we do eventually get some of the pets on retail.
Examples:
Hoplet (was OG brought out with the Rabbit Mount in 2023 according to the Blizz Site) it did become accessible to retail through the Blizz Store in Jan 18th of 2024
Timbered Sky Snakelet (I think this was the first where the 6month sub w/Classic one & the one for retail came out the same time)
I'll have to look some more later, but those are 2 i've found. Apparently finding a comprehensive list on all the pets from the 6/12 month subs isn't a thing. So have to manually look up each one.

Here's a list of Classic-only pets, just ignore the hyena pups lol.

There are only a few new(er) pets that are in both Classic and Retail so far:

• Arfus
• Hoplet
• Lil' Wrathion

This isn't including the pets that use the same model but have different names, like Merriment and Joyous. Glub and Blub, Timbered Sky Snakelet and Timbered Air Snakelet are more examples.

It would be great if the rest of the Classic-only pets were also available in Retail, but it's a little frustrating that some collectors will likely have to buy/pay for them again even if they've already collected them in Classic.
