Mists of Pandaria
Patch 5.0.1 | Posted: September 25, 2012
The Gilnean Raven is a trainable pet in Mists of Pandaria. However, only Worgen are offered this option from Battle Pet Trainers. Once learned, all characters will have access to this pet. Worgen may also learn this pet from Audrey Burnhep in Stormwind.
NOTE: Once this pet is learned, it cannot be learned again from the trainer even if the pet is caged and sold.
Level 0: 0 0 0
Quoth the raven: the last word you said. It gets old.
Finally replaced my B/B with an S/S; somebody was selling in trade...
asked how much they wanted...they said idk 5k?
*don't sound too exicited, don't sound too excited, don't sound too excited*
SUUUURRRREEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very disapointed in that the new model doesn't look like a raven anymore. It's the beak!
tfw you buy an S/S Raven for 8k. then send the guy another 12k in the mail to make yourself feel better :'(.
I am so disappointed in myself. I forgot to check stats before posting one of my ravens on the auction house. Someone got a sweet deal on a S/S raven.
So. Very. Sad.
Brilliant Kaliri, Jade Tentacle, Tirisfal Batling, Firefly, Jade Crane Chick, Gilnean Raven, and Shore Crawler are no longer available in multiple breeds.
Does anyone have a definitive answer on the pet breed for Gilnean Raven's now? Are all newly aquired ravens pet breend B/B now?
Remember fellow tamers, Elemental Pets are immune to weather effects, so there is only a 50-50 chance of hitting them with Nocturnal Strike. I team this bad boy with Ghostly Skull to great success.
Brian, as per Thirroxin's comment of Dec 23 2013, only B/Bs are sold now. Others exist that were bought previously. If you are looking for the Call Darkness - Nocturnal Strike moves in an S/S build, the Crow is a good alternative. For a Power build, the Dread Hatchling is way more powerful than either Ravens or Crows, devastating for Vale aquatic levelling.
Just tried the trick recommended in Wowhead forums of shortcutting the long, long Worgen startup quest chain. Worgen DK can finish the DK startups much more quickly.
Blizz seems to have caught onto this though, trainer Audrey in SW wouldn't offer the Raven to my DK. Apparently you now have to have gone through and completed Worgen startup zone.
And yes, as other posters have pointed out, the Raven always comes uncommon and, since patch 5.2, only B/B. Ravens acquired before the patch retain their original qualities. Can occasionally find some of the more desireable S/S and P/S in AH, but be prepared to pay dearly.
When I read about the pet and how you needed to be a worgen to get it... killed me. I usually roll humans or Orcs depending lol... and to get this pet was a journey...leveling from 1-15ish then somehow making a huge journey because zygor lead me the wrong way I assume... walked from 1 end to another end of one continent to do the same on another and dying repeatedly lol... next time I will hire a taxi with a 2 seater... but finally got him today :)
I bought three ravens on three differernt toons and all were the B/B breed. Is that suppsoed to happen or do i just have very bad luck?
What minimum level worgen can get this pet?
I've rolled up 14 worgen (and deleted all but 3) just to get something besides a B/B raven and no luck. Are there other breeds besides balance/balance?
While it has been reported to be otherwise in another post, you CAN (as of 6.0.3) buy this after creating a Worgen DK and playing through the DK area. Took me just under 2 hours.
I combine the Gilnean Raven with a Crow to power level new pets in the Vale of Eternal Sorrows. Most of the wild pets you battle in that zone are level 24-25 aquatics, and these two absolutely tear through them. I typically finish battles in less than 2 minutes.
In reply to a previous comment. My Raven's only miss against Elementals because they ignore all weather effects, maybe your opponent swapped in an elemental? I know I like to do that when I see one :) Still 50/50 but it's still funny and possibly game changing when it misses.
i love my worgen, i love my gilnean raven. i think this is the only racial pet i use. i love it, i named mine lenore. :P anybody got any team suggestions for my girl?
Within 5 battles I get why this pet is so highly rated. He held his own several rounds against pets literally 10 levels higher than him. I did eventually have to bring in another pet obviously but that's still impressive.
@Elewis
Not sure what happened to your pet. My Gilnean Raven was purchased, leveled to 25 and stoned to blue quality somewhere in 2012. I checked it today and it has P/S breed, so it doesn't seem that all pre-patch purchased Ravens were unified.
Do not underestimate the value of this pet's Nevermore ability. When attacking opponents who have only 1 real attack coupled with two abilities with cooldowns, hitting their every round attack ability can put you in for an easy win. He doesn't hit hard, but when your opponent can't hit you at all, this pet will clean up. He's a niche pet for sure, but against the right opponent, he's unstoppable.
