Battle Stone Question

People who are trading battle stones: how does that work? I assume if you pull out an uncommon, can I use my stone on it?

Haven't tested it, So I thought I'd ask here.

The pets you want upgraded need to be ones that can be caged and traded. So basically you trade the pets, upgrade them, and trade them back.
