Corpse Consume + Val'Kyr = OP?
So, I came up against an admittedly very powerful team, but I honestly think it's not in spirit with how it's meant to work. My opponent had two undead with corpse consume and a Val'Kyr. General strategy was to haunt with the Val'kyr then do some damage with another undead, then consume the corpse, then repeat.
Each time the Val'Kyr haunted, it provided another corpse, however corpse consume specifically states corpses can only be consumed once - with the Val'kyr, this just isn't true.
I'll give credit to the creator of the team, it's very powerful, I just don't think the Val'Kyr should (or indeed was ever intended!) to be consumed numerous times.

I agree, this doesn't sound like it was an intended mechanic. As fun as it sounds, it's likely a bug and you can report it as such either in-game or on the official Battle.net forums.

old known quirk, really. And you waste turns on swapping to pull it off. And once that team looses a member, it becomes exceedingly risky to keep haunting. For if your second pet goes down while haunt is active, you loose as all pets is dead.

my favor team setup
Val'kyr + Blighthawk + Death Adder .win rate 7/10. some team i meet -even call me abuse ? did i abuse anything ?

This is NOT the team I'm talking about, and I'm well aware of how to counter these teams. I'm just pointing out that I don't think that it was ever intended for one pet to have an infinite umber of corpses.

I think the ability is really buggy, as far as it is described because I have used it more then 2 times before, with a mechanical and undead teammates(not unborn valk) so not sure which racial caused it. it did not really help me much but yea they should either change the tooltip or fix the bug.

Re: Corpse Consume + Val'Kyr = OP?
since it is mentioned here im using this team also for pvp. its really OP!. Got 30 fights and lost 5 of them. But Corpse consume can only use one corpse. But Valkyr returns and creates another corpse. so i think its not a bug but using the mechanics!!
Maybe now im getting faster to that trainer achievement

I use Valk, Stitched pup, and Son of animus, pretty fun, SoA is a tanking MFer.
if you happen to see this combo with a valk named Myst, /wave

Re: Corpse Consume + Val'Kyr = OP?
Some people just don't know how to handle the Val'kyr. If you let her use Curse of Doom and Haunt on her target, you just have to swap your pet out. That's because when Stitched Pup gets up, he'll use Howl and your pet is dead in two turns if you can't prevent it. Healing won't do.
You can also sacrifice your first pet and let him soak all three, but only do it if you know you can kill the Pup in three rounds or at least seriously hurt him (it's doable by some pets), or if you know you won't need this pet later (for example, if you have this pet just for his weather changing skill). You need to hurt the Val'kyr as much as you can in the first two rounds and finish her off before her next haunt, so she won't resurrect to use it for the third time.
Yesterday I won four battles out of four with just Val + Pup. My opponents were simply clueless.

Yes, this. Each time Valk resurrects and re-Haunts, it creates a fresh new corpse. Definitely not a bug, just another interesting bit of mechanics that's unique to Haunt. It's also worth noting that this was also true in 5.3, prior to the massive Haunt buff of 5.4. Valk+Stitched Pup made a cute couple back then too, but the power level was obviously nowhere near as high with the old version of Haunt.Pikafido wrote:But Valkyr returns and creates another corpse. so i think its not a bug but using the mechanics!!
Yes, this is also part of the issue. Just because a particular combo wins a lot doesn't mean it's overpowered. Consuming Valk corpses is a nifty trick and can be very powerful, but swapping back to Valk costs turns and drastically reduces its effectiveness. Ie, Consume Corpse is 'worth' 2.5 turns, because it heals 50% health (which is ~2.5 attacks, on average). That's very powerful the first time you use it, but if you have to swap back to Valk then you're paying a turn and reducing the effectiveness to roughly 1.5 turns, which is only average for a heal.Malignus wrote:Some people just don't know how to handle the Val'kyr...

The power level of Valk is still primarily due to Haunt's damage and lack of drawbacks/cooldown. The interaction with Consume Corpse is neat but not overly powerful.
Haunt itself is overpowered and popular, so playing a team that loses to Valk is risky business in today's metagame. And if you can handle Valk, you can almost certainly handle Valk+Stitched Pup.
