Does Forfeit have any detriment to stats or other

With the hunt for Rare pets I am wondering if there is any downside to forfeiting battles to find them. Status, or wins loses etc. Any reason to avoid forfeiting if possible?

I don't believe so. There may be some tracking on the back end but it doesn't look like it affects pet stats in any way.

I don't like doing it but when farming for rares I'll clean out pets quickly forfeiting to find the rare. I feel bad when I have a Minfernal and enter combat with one that's also Poor so I won't be capturing it. I won't forfeit that one though...I fight through just because I feel bad I denied somebody the Minfernal looking for an upgrade to mine.

If you feel bad enough, you can disconnect yourself--the easiest way I know is to alt-tab to desktop and quit WoW from there. This will cause you to exit the pet battle and will make the pet available for others, rather than despawn it as forfeiting would--ie it will become a clickable critter again with a green paw, and it will retain the same rarity/breedID that it had when you battled it.
