What about pets without quality?
Post

Sorry if this has been discussed already, I tried the search function without luck so I'll ask here. I noticed several of my pets lack a quality indicator whatsoever. How will I be able to know if they are good picks for battle?
This is especially the case with the blue aqua strider I found off a rare mob in Pandara. I'd love to battle with the cute little thing but I don't know his quality.

Non-captured pets, such as those obtained as rare drops or purchases, have rarities based on how they were obtained and how difficult they were to obtain. Currently this is not visible in the basic interface. It is believed their rarity will be added to their information in a future update.
For now I recommend getting the Pet Battle Quality Glow Addon (LINK). Its primary purpose is to show the rarity of pets you encounter in the wild, but it also shows the rarity of the pets you bring into battle; download the Addon, enter a random battle with your Strider, and its rarity should be depicted by the color of the pet's name and the glow around its icon.

Caging it and then relearning it is also a way to find out. For the record, Aqua Strider and Grinder are both blue.

If I could also recommend an addon, I use BattlePetCount [
LINK] and it's really useful for not only checking pet rarity but also letting me know when I fight pets or search the AH how many of them I have and what their rarity and levels are.

Blizzard has also suggested that in 5.1 there will be a way to increase the rarity of your pets. I would assume (and hope) that this extends to our non-caught pets (come on rare Mechanical Squirrel!)
