Just now getting in to collecting pets and pet battling, what are the must haves?

I just went and got grumpy for his bark to assist catching, but which ones should I be searching for? Are there any cool hidden gems out there?

Also what are the must have powerful ones. I’ve looked at wow pets but wanted some thoughts from players. Thanks!
