I have a feeling that most people who are hunting for rares just battle, forfeit and leave the non-rares for the next schmuck (me). I have seen a dramatic decrease in the frequency of rare pets, and I'm really kicking myself for not finishing them all off before 5.2.

Am I the only one getting stomped by Gorespine? The rest of them I could easily 2 man but this guy is just chewing through all of my pets in 2-3 hits with me barely making a dent in his health.

I don't know if it's the fastest way but I pretty much do it the same way, a strong beast vs. critters in Valley of the Four Winds or a moth vs. aquatics in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. If the pet has <50% into the level I do it 1 pet at a time, if it starts getting closer to 25 I bring in another pet ...

I have done something similar with cornish rex cat against the critters in Valley of the Four Winds, Devour heals him for almost half his health and he kills all critters in 3 hits, usually ending fights with full health. Yeah, I'm #2 on Wow Progress while I'm waaaaaay down to #11 on here based purely on total number of pets. I'll never be at the top based on total pets because I refuse to pay for pets (RL money or in game gold) so I like the quality and level of pets being factored in to give me a boost.
