Read more about this pet in our Pet of the Month!
Level 0: 0 0 0
While smaller than the infamous ravens of Gilneas, crows are no less clever or cunning.
Not every glow fly has these as a add, I came across a glowfly with a roach/sea gull/rat/adder as a add or as a single glowfly with no adds if they are a level 4 and under.
Also you can catch these all now, POOR, COMMON, UNCOMMON and RARE!
Update 10:20 PM I finally gotten my rare after 5 hours, click on my armory link to view, it is in game!
EDIT: (IMPORTANT) IF YOU HAVE A HARD TIME AND NOT SURE WHAT LEVEL TO USE, if you have a Terrible Turnip use them, their first ability has a way to bring any level pet down to one hp without killing it, so it would be easier to kill. I used a lvl 11 Terrible Turnip and he had no problems with anything, including two level 10s.
I can confirm rare crows and rare glowflies exist. I farmed for 3+ hours and had only 2 rare crows and 12 glowflies in that time. Crows of differnet quality will join about 10-15% of the time with uncommons being about 10% of that and rares being like 1%.
There are 14 spawn points that are consistant on the island and if you farming alone the spawn rate will be almost perfect for you to continually encounter. Please remember you can only get crows from glowflies above level 5 as adders to the fights.
There seems to be a LOT of confusion with Call of Darkness and Nocturnal Strike, so I thought I would help clear it up.
The Nocturnal Strike tool tip states "Base hit chance increased to 100% if the target is Blinded".
Weather effects ALL front pets in battle. The tool tip (at top of screen once cast) for Weather Darkness states "Accuracy reduced by 10%"
So Nocturnal Strike starts at 100% accuracy since blinded, but then the weather itself reduces it to 90% accuracy
Despite some of the comments on here, these are not hard or impossible to get. They show up as secondaries to at least level 6+ - circle the Faire over and over again, clearing out glowflies. I got uncommons first - tamed two of those, left the third slot open for a rare if I found it - which I did after two days of farming. Dropped the second uncommon for another free slot, and I'll continue circling. Do this in off hours when there's not a ton of people doing the same thing.
I don't know if this was just luck but when I farmed for this crow in daylight it did not drop after over an hour farming on multiple realms/toons. I decided to have a look around and found Rona Greenteeth at 36.53, 57.96 and she had for sale a potion called Inky Black Potion for 3g 33s 33c. I decided to purchase it and use it. The day turned to night and I got 2 ravens in 4 battles. Give this a try if you are not having luck or try at night. Good Luck!!
Invest in a level 25 Terrible Turnip if you have not already. It makes capturing these and all other low level pets painless with its level 1 ability.
I was after a S/S Breed for PvP and it took me almost to hours to find one. It was of poor quality, but since I do not have the nerve to spend countless hours farming for a rare one in the special breed I'm after, I stoned it and got the hell off that creepy island. :)
I can confirm rares on both Glowfly and Crow. Damn near made me cross-eyed trying to get them!
You best spawn points are:
a) the ridge on the east side of the island - start at the spawn behind the portal and work your way southeast on the ridge
b) west/below the east ridge - three spawns between the tents and the ridge
There are two more spawns on the west side of the island (one south corner, one just west of the north tent), then one on the northwest ridge.
Happy hunting!
Hotfix has gone live. Right now they are still only spawning as secondaries to the Darkmoon Glowfly's.
Got mine at 34.1, 74.8 spawn place. Was poor but meh I will stone it up to blue.
I got mine as second to the glowfly. They were in the spawn points on that map roughly.
My first was a lvl 7 green and second was a lvl 9 BLUE :D :D was crossing my fings at that point because I had scoured the most part of top forest and had just got to the tip/end with nothing but more grey one off glowflies (far right point was ma bluey).
I caught a rare Crow while looking for a glowfly! I didn't even know I needed one, but I instantly love this cute bird! It was from the fourth glowfly, on Shadowcouncil at 9:36a at (71,78).
Finally got my rare today after a 7 and a half hour non stop camp, must have killed off 20 plus rare flies by the time it was all said and done. Good luck all on this one.
the tool tip says the crow is Tradable but it is a lie. i tryed to caged one and the option is not there
after choosing between a rare glowfly and a poor crow(apparently i chose the fly :P) i was rly happy to get a rare crow just a few battles later :D
This is one of the MOST frustrating pet to capture. I got my first one before it was capturable, and that was uncommon quality. However when I went to find one after the update, it took awhile. Finally I find one and.... it died... V.V;;
Got my crow tonight, woot. Lvl 10 poor but I kicked up to rare with battle stone. I belive this will be a great flying fighter with Call of Darkness and Nocturnal Strike.
Finally found S/S one after, well, I don’t even know, how many months of hunting ;))). Was poor quality, stoned to rare straight away :D. So to all of you, pet hunters, who DIDN’T catch the most wanted breed yet - DO NOT loose your hope :).
PS. It was accompanied pet to Darkmoon Glowfly btw. In process I found few Darkmoon Glowflies rare, two rare Adder as well as two or three rare Crows of different breed. No rare S/S though.
Sadly, despite that it does say "Flies alongside Flying Mount", my poor lil Seth (what I named mine) stays on the ground when I take off (and thus desummons).
I am on an average pop server (ravencrest, bound with uldaman), and I did 3 fights with the glowflies, the first had a P/S crow, the second one did not house a crow, but the third had an S/S crow (common, but stone-able). I think this pet isn't too hard to find.
