The waters of Ruby Lake are colored a strange reddish hue, possibly due to the ruby crystals found deep within the mountains of the Timeless Isle.
I was on another quest to get up there and found some useful info to get up without an albatross (courtesy of Nyctalops on WoWhead):
This pet is survivalist that depends on avoidance and damage through heals. If you want to go for higher damage, try the Acid Touch/Dive/Plagued Blood. Using Dive on CD and AT with PB debuff up, you can heal between 250-300 health every 3 turns while avoiding 1 attack every either 4 turns. For healing, Absorb/Bubble/Drain Blood can heal 596-836 (depending on target's max health) every 3 turns while avoiding 2 consecutive attacks every 8 turns.
I camped Garnia for two days (she spawned about every 45-50 minutes) and got "Flo" on roughly my 12th attempt.
Garnia might be tough to solo as she hits for 200k repeatedly. So be prepared to use some fancy tactics to kill her if you're alone. Also, unlike a lot of the rares on Timeless Isle, she is hostile, so don't get too close if you're waiting for a group to form.
Best of luck! May the drops be with you :-}
40 Garnia kills before I got this pet to drop. Hint about getting up to Garnia quickly (forget the albatross). Buy the glider from Ku-Mo, the vendor at the S end of the Celestial Court, OR use a parachute cloak or mage slowfall. Go out to sea a bit from the lake (into the fatigue zone), until you can mount a flying mount. Fly up REALLY high then fly towards the lake. When you get dismounted, use slowfall, parachute cloak or the glider and when you're over the lake, cancel it and drop into water.
This guy is amazing in PVP . The h/s version jumps in and blocks all kinds of junk. Then it heals up. This guy is a must IMO
Aaah finally got her, and a H/H breed, too! Thank the gods I never have to see that lake again!!!
Respawns on a timer, randomly between 30 and 60 minutes. I farmed it by simply parking a character up there for a few days. After killing Garnia, I'd set a timer for 30 minutes and go do something else. Come back and wait 1-30 minutes for him to spawn, then repeat.
You can fish up there as a way to pass the time, and have a chance to get a tiny carp pet while you wait. One of the people I camped with got it while we were up there fishing.
Took 27 kills for me to get. Respawn times varied from 29 minutes to an hour and eight minutes. H/P breed.
Now that Timeless isn't farmed like it used to be, I was wondering if anyone had an updated spawn rate for Garnia? Does something trigger her spawn, or is it simply random?
I got her around my 10th kill or so. A little trick to make life easier is to go out to the fatigue zone off the edge of the island, swim until you can use flying mounts and go straight up. Once your high enough, fly towards where she spawns and use an engineer glider or one of the ones you buy from the vendor to hang glide to her little lake. Mine is an H/P breed, plagued blood + absorb for some great heals, steady damage, and dive for avoidance and big damage.
As a Hunter Garnia is a much easier kill. ( No bird , YAY)
Jump across Ordon's bridge edge around to lower lake. Swim directly below where Garnia spawns. Use /tar Garnia, send pet up wall to attack. Shut off pet, Garnia will follow your pet back down wall into lower pool. Re-engage.Make sure you have Glyph of Fetch or pull her into water so you can reach her to loot. Please announce first that you are pulling her down, save people a bird ride.
I'm amazed to see that some people got this on only a few kills - I camped ruby lake with an alt and finally got this pet on the 87th kill. Good luck to all, she's a pretty little thing.
After many many Albatross trips and camping at the lake, I finally got this pet on my second Garnia kill of the day. Spawn is usually around the top of the hour, give or take. IF you happen to be up there by yourself, be sure you can solo the mob. If you die, it's a long trip back up and you probably won't get back up there before others gank her. Sometimes it's best to wait for backup. Pet looks great.
Confirmed! Garnia drops the pet.
Pick up and do the stages for Rolo's Riddle quest before heading up there.
Good luck.
This mob is located on the Timeless Isles, at Ruby Lake. In order to get to this location you need to attack a Highland Albatross, which can be found directly north of Mossgreen Lake traveling from west to east. Once you attack the albatross continue on its route until you are over the pools and attack it once more for it to drop you.
Unknown respawn time, can be tagged, spawns in the centre of the lake at the bottom and does not drop the pet everytime. Good luck!
My alt has started to build a little home for herself on the shores of this red-tinged lake. The elusive spirit arises and taunts her every 30 or so minutes. My poor alt has begun to wonder if this is all a trick by the main to punish her. She sighs and resumes her vigil. Someday, somehow, if the gods of Timeless Isle smile upon her, she may be able to come down from this bloody mountain and rejoin the other alts in Valdrakken.
51 kills so far...
Don't give up hope! After about a week of farming... killing Garnia about every 30 minutes for 4-5 hours/day... it finally dropped.
I would think H/H or possibly H/P would be the breed preferences you would want with this pet.
Anyone have input as to breed preference?
What's the answer?
19 kills and boom. While Im here, there are four ways to get up to the lake. I used my DH but remembered the boost with wings just over the bridge. Just click the pylon and float over to the lake. If you have a speed boost it stacks and gets you their faster. I should make a video. :)
