Patch 7.0.3 | Posted: August 2, 2016
To collect this pet, players must first obtain the Spring Cleaning buff, allowing them to see the Dust Bunny spawns.

The buff lasts for 15 minutes. Once the buff wears off, the bunnies will despawn.

Interacting with a special rug in Dalaran grants the buff. However the rug can spawn in various shops at unknown times, adding an element of randomness to collecting this pet. A few known locations of this interactable rug include:
  • Dalaran Barber Shop
  • Magical Menagerie (Breanni's shop)
  • Second floor of The Legerdemain Lounge

I got one yesterday outside the pet shop in Dalaran. I had found the round blue rug inside the pet shop but I didn't know what it was. I could tell it was clickable so I clicked on it but had no idea I got a clean sweep buff. When I stepped outside the shop I was surprised to see a pet wondering in Dalaran streets and that it was one I didn't have. I immediately clicked on him. He was a level 23 Common with two other uncommon level battle pets. I recommend you use pets in your group that don't do heavy damage or damage over multiple rounds. You also want at least one pet that can heal in your group so it can heal itself or others. I used the Blossoming Ancient, Frostwolf Ghostpup, and Alterac Brew-pup. I mainly fought the Dust Bunny with the Ghostpup's low level attack. Once I got him down to 1/3 health it only took a couple rounds to capture him. With battle stones I made Dust Bunny a 25 Rare. Amusing name and cute pet. Good luck!

I wandered all around Dalaran looking for a rug I could actually interact with. By the time I found it, I was so fed up with the purple city that I caught the first one I came across. It was poor, but S/S, and that's what I wanted, so I'm good to upgrade it and call it a day.

This was a fun scavenger hunt to get the pet.

I had been standing on the rug a while without knowing it, i was talking to a guildie while standing on the metal floor panel next to the Horde inn.

After finding out how to see the pet, i realized that i had been blind :P

But after long walking back and forth i found the rug at the barber's, it was probably at the Alliance place while i was looking for it.

Anyway, this is a nice variation on the rabbit model, im loving my S/S Dusty Hopman.

I just got mine after reading the comments here! TYVM!!!! I had just checked the Barber's Shop and the other buildings and I found the dusty rug in the Pet Shop behind the counter as well! I was like "OMG there it is!!!" and I had just been in there! FYI the carpet in the pet shop is HUGE and bright colors. I guess I had seen it in there a few times so it didn't look out of place. I was thinking the rug was going to be small but this thing was a 10 feet in diameter round rug!

Looked for the carpet, couldn't find, hopped server joining a margoss farm group, didn't find it again, so I left the group and searched once more... and there it was, in the pet shop, behind the counter. Got my s/s bunny in less than 2 minutes, and decided to let others know it had spawned, but when I came back it wasn't there anymore. Spooky carpet.

Got a rare Dust Bunny on my second battle!

Funny thing is I got the spring cleaning buff and I didn't even know how i got it. I must have clicked on a rug without noticing it. I managed to catch a rare one while it was active.

Thank you for your comments! I finally found the Dusty Rug and ran into a Rare S/B first thing. Then got an Uncommon P/S and a Poor S/S. I didn't see this mentioned before, but you can go back to the rug and get more time. I realized I hadn't checked every bunny, so I went back to the rug (on grate in the Horde Area) and it was still there. I clicked and got another 15 minutes! No better Dustys but did get rare upgrades for a bat and frog.

I've gotten two uncommon SS and PS, think I'll keep the PS since I already have 4 other SS rabbits/hares.  Really wish they would of done something a little more special with the moveset besides just giving it smokebomb.

Be sure to look on the grassy area that borders Dalaran as well; I've seen a few spawn there. To access it, just go to where the pet world quest is and run around the city.

A nice pet to catch these with is the Molten Corgi with the Superbark ability. Strong against Critter, but like the Terrible Turnip, it doesn't kill the pet, so you can safely catch without worry.

Found mine outside the Horde inn on the grate as well, thanks for that tip! It seems that multiple people are able to use the rug once it spawns, as there was already someone there when I found it.

For the past couple of weeks, I've been stopping by the barber shop to check for the rug whenever I run by.  Today it was there, so I caught two bunnies, one poor and one common.  P/S and S/S, respectively.  I only saw poor/common quality bunnies hopping about, but I did see all three breeds.  Edited to add:  I used the Terrible Turnip to catch the bunnies without accidently killing them.

Is possible to detect the Dusty Rug using NPC Scan?

Finnally I have got my Dust Bunny I didn't found rare or uncommom quality only white and grey ones, so I select a S/S breed and I will use an upgrade stone. I found the Dusty Rug in the barbershop.

What are people's best teams to use for these guys? I saw two different people kill their bunnies by accident last night and don't want to do the same. :( This little guy look sooo cute!

EDIT: Took my chances when I saw the rug and used my Gilnean crow, got a rare S/S on the second bunny with no problems! All others I found were also S/S until about 2 min left on the buff when I found a poor P/S so I caught it, figuring to bump it up with a stone. Fun little game! :)

I play on an Alliance-heavy server, so the carpet is ALWAYS up in the Horde section of Dalaran. One trick I just tried - and it worked! - was create a Horde class-trial lvl 100 toon on my server. After a few scenarios, I was ported to Dala, and presto! I walk into the Windrunner's Sanctuary, and the carpet is all mine! :)

Another tip: One of the dust bunny spawn points is outside Dalaran's walls. Go to Krasus' landing, and there's a broken section of the wall where you can cross.
