These aren't just addons, I'm staring at one along the shores of Tiragarde Sound right now, just south of the Horde starting area. I assume they're probably all along the coast.

Caught one of these today in Tiraguarde Sound, after doing the opening quests for Honorbound Faction at the pirate bay. Came as a secondary to the Hermit Crab, along with Giant Woodworm, Parasitic Boarfly, and Shack Crab. The hermit crabs were among clusters of critter versions around the shorelines of the cluster of small islands. Happy Hunting!
