1404 pets
Legion Alpha is up and running once again and a new pet area was discovered in Dalaran. [source]
One of the floating islands outside of Dalaran is now home to what appears to be a Pet Battle arena.
The island is currently only accessible by walking along the outer edge of the city. You can accomplish this by carefully jumping down from the flight path area, and navigating towards the left side of Dalaran.
It even has a training area with Target Dummies (pictured right) presumably for pets, although you can't interact with them.
There are two NPCs on the island, Tournament Announcer and Greg, both of which are flagged as "Dalaran Pet Tournament Employees".
You can't interact with them at the moment, however the Announcer has some amusing dialogue.
It's still unknown what this area will be used for, however if the NPCs are any indication, a new Pet Battle Tournament could be in the works for Legion. We look forward to learning more as testing continues!

New Pet Models
No new pets were added in the recent Legion Alpha patch, however datamining revealed some interesting models — a bat, corgi (pictured below), and celestial hippo and rabbit.
We can only hope that these new models will belong to upcoming battle pets that we can collect!
Just an update to the info here.
The tournament area is part of the Dalaran island itself instead of one of hte floating islands. You reach it by going through the hole in the Dalaran wall just past the cemetary where they hold Day of the Dead. You walk through the tournament area to get to the floating island where you fish up drowned mana for new mount/pet
I love the new corgis and the dust bunny but I'm wondering will Blizz ever add something like a Pomeranian? Preferably a dog breed that does NOT drag it's backside along the floor and sniff at the remnants. That's usually a sign of worms...or one seriously itchy skin problem. Get those pets some cream!
Also very glad to see they've renamed the jellyfish pets! It was bugging me how they could term cnidarians as cephalopods...they're not even in the same Phylum!
Now they just need to add a Cardigan Corgi at some point and I will never have to leave Azeroth again.
Having missed out on collecting the Molten Corgi, I find the prospect of obtaining even a regular Corgi pet to be exciting. Now, if I could get a chihuahua, a dachshound, and a bulldog to go along with it...
The celestial hippo and rabbits are so cute And unique. Love them already.
I'm more of a cat guy but damn these Corgis are cute!

"Corgis Unleashed" is finally coming! And people thought it was an April's Fools... :)
I've seen one I can't wait to add to the collection. I just can't talk about it. Sometimes there's benefits to being an illustrator in the industry.
