Limits on the number of pets!

I got a darkmoon faire pet (the balloon companion) and after I purchased it with my hard earned tickets, I got an amazing message at the top of my screen. It said that I had exceeded the max number of pets my character could have. Then, it didn't let me add that pet. Also, it did NOT give me a refund!

What was that?????

Anyone else hear about this? And will something special be set up for a one time refund of tickets?

Since you can have more than one pet of the same kind now in the new pet journal, Blizzard has set a limit of 500 total and 3 of any one kind. http://www.warcraftpets.com/news/patch-504-is-here/

Players are allowed to temporarily go over that limit right now, since all your characters' pets are combining in the new pet journal for the first time (although even now there is still a limit according to blue posts, 1500 pets I think). When MoP hits we'll be getting a function to cage some pets and sell them, for now all you can do to get under the limits is to release pets.

You can't learn any pets unless you are under 500 total (I don't know if you're able to learn a particular pet if you're over 3 for that pet). But I don't think it's intentional that you actually lose the pet, so you can put in a ticket for that.

Thanks! i felt soooo ripped off. Especially since i only play WoW for the pets! Limits on pets......heresy! LOL

so if we say have 10 Sinister Squashlings when MoP hits will we be able to cage the other 7 or just loose them

You'll be able to cage them. Pets will not be removed from your collection even if you have over the caps when MoP is released.

I can't wait to see how many Sinister Squashlings and Wolpertingers are on the AH after the 25th.

I know I have a crap ton of all the holiday pets.

I HATE that I've spent so much time trying to get as many pets as I can for years (for achievements and for fun) and now, not only do i not get the reward of a pet for the ach, but I effectively have not use over 350 pets I've worked so hard to get!

I have over 850 total pets on all toons and really wanted more. I am very very disappointed. *sob
