Tokens and Recruit A Friend

Post by Dakaf » April 17th, 2015, 6:37 pm

Just to let you guys know, if you have a spare battlechest and want to get the pets that require Recruit-a-friend, you're in luck! It is possible to use tokens for the Recruit a friend monthly payments.

Send the gold to your newbie, then just buy the tokens!

Sorry to BURST your bubble but that only works after the new account has PAYED for gametime cause otherwise you cant use the mailbox.

You're still out $20 in Real Money though this does save another $15 for a paid month. Have to buy the game for your recruit before they can use mailbox and their token comes in the mail.

Game seems to get discounted to half-price every now and then but can't predict when.

Most folks doing this strictly for the pets/mounts tend to buy up a few when the discounts are offered, which is generally twice a year at the minimum (Spring(ish) and Winter(ish) seem to be the common timing, although I think they had a third discount period last year(?)). You essentially save more money than you spend by doing it that way (read: discount + tokens, just to be clear), because you'll get a free month on your main account with each referral.

This was suspected, but it's nice to have confirmation that you can indeed use tokens to count as game time for RAF.

Now all we need is for them to release the tokens for those of us who aren't on the US servers. ;)

Assuming you've added the Battlechest already, which is also part of the requirements to get the pet/mount, you have a month of game time from that so have a full account. Beyond that I'm pretty sure even the trial RAF account can send mails to and trade with their RAF even when they are on a trial period. Yeah they lock down general things to protect against general spammer accounts but the RAF is a little different.

Yes, once the paid battlechest is added, it's a full account. You won't have WoD, but you'll have up to Panda. And as said above, when the battlechest was on sale for 5$ last year, I bought three or four of them. I have the codes in my mail somewhere!

Battlechest gives full access to a full account and 30 days of game time. Send that new account gold to buy two tokens. Buy and use the tokens, and you've now filled all the requirements. New pets and mounts await!

I assume paying for RaF account time via tokens still triggers the 1 month free game time on the main account? If so, then this really is a great way to get those RaF pets and mounts since you're also gifting yourself a bit of usable game time.
