Have you ever gotten this trying to name your pets? I have started to stock up on a couple of what I hope can be useful duplicates for breeding. To remember why I got them I named them with breed and family, like PP Beast and so on. Worked fine until PS Undead. Then I got "That name is reserved". Damn blizzard hogging names.

Get that response pretty frequently while trying to name my pets. I wanted to name my Guardian Cub King Moonracer after the lion on Island of Misfit Toys in Rudolph but that was a no. Moonracer was also not accepted. Blizzard has thwarted many of my cutesy pet naming attempts. Very annoying.

My Perky Pug, Bertha, was actually supposed to be Mr. Rochester. Even just 'Rochester' was blocked, and I'm not sure why. Place name? the 'chest' in the middle? Still not sure.

I wanted to name my Dark Phoenix Hatchling "Jean Gray", but apparently "gray" is off limits. Had to settle with "Jean Grey" lol.

I know that titles are not allowed... i.e. King, Prince, Lady, etc... even Mr. For some reason "the" is also not allowed.

Others, I have no clue as to why they can't be used. I wanted to name one of my pet canines "Fritzy" (after a dog I had as a child), but that was not allowed either.

What bothers me is that I have seen some pets with offensive names... properly spelled even.

Mr is not allowed, but Ms and Mrs both work. Wanted to name my crawdad Mr. Pinchy, because I'm original like that.

Might have something to do with germans being called Fritz during WWII, also seems similar to the Fritzl-family incident. But might have nothing to do with that of course.

I was able to name a baby dragon Lil Asskicker (after baby Judith from Walking Dead!) but I couldn't name my Swamp Croaker "Kermit The Frog"... wasn't quite sure why.

I like to name my favorite pets after players from my favorite show Survivor and a couple of the names I wanted were taken

If you find the name you want is reserved you can try åccëntéd characters.

It's the word "the" that is not allowed. I had to call my spirit crab "Ghost in Shell" because of that.

Other seemingly innocent names which I've had blocked include:

cinder kitten - Hot Fuzz (the word "hot" isn't allowed apparently)
Pierre - Iron Chef ("Chef" is blocked)

Annoying when you come up with what you think is a great name, only to be denied by the extensive blocklist.

google is yer friend, except when it isn't. tried to find a list of blocked words for Blizzard. got to a link on mmo-champion and it had 551 words on it that might traumatize or inspire you but none of them were odd to see there. i still don't know why Shane is blocked (wanted to name my [pet]Cheetah[/pet] that for the boy in Weeds who shot out the eye of a mountain lion on first season.

My favorite thus far is Vodka being blocked, when it was the name of a well known raid guild.

And yes I just use special symbols as needed if a name I want is reserved.

I tried to name my perky pug Popeye.

I've gotten around not being able to use Mr. or Mister by using Mista.

As in Mista Bitey.

I'm a bit fussy. If I can't have the name I want, spelled properly with no funny characters, I'd rather not have the name at all. Quite a few of my pets are just waiting for me to come up with an alternate name for them after the first idea was rejected.
