Anyone else notice this ability STILL affects elemental pets? It didn't used to, and it shouldn't, isn't blizz gonna fix this?

Yeah, I just did a massive post on the elemental family ability with lots of field testing, and Lightning Storm definitely still on-hits elementals. But, I think this may be intentional, as it functions as a buff to the opposing pet's attack, and though elementals don't take the negative effects they don't take away the positive effects for the opposing pet. I asked LeCraft about Sandstorm (which actually is bugged, in that the Elemental doesn't benefit from the damage shield), and that's the gist of his reply: https://twitter.com/TheCrafticus/status ... 9463479296

It's good that they acknowledge it...but when are they actually going to DO something about it? It can't truly be THAT difficult to fix something as specific as that. It's been sitting as a bug for way too long now. My guess is they'll get to it when it no longer matters...or something along those lines.

I am, of course, referring to the Sandstorm bug.

Based on that twitter post, there would be nothing to fix. Lightning Storm has no "negative" effects based on the in game text. All effects are added to the attacking pet as bonuses. Elementals wouldn't be chilled or blinded by blizzard or darkness cause those are debuffs and considered negative effects.

My guess is it works like this:

Positive Effects (not negated by being elemental opponent):
Sandstorm Damage Reduction
Lightning Storm Additional Damage
Lightning Storm Mech Damage multiplier
Cleansing Rain Aquatic Damage multiplier
Cleansing Rain DoT reduction
Sunlight Health Bonus
Sunlight Healing Bonus

Negative Effects:
Mudslide root effect
Darkness Healing Reduction (not 100% sure on this one...could be like sandstorm damage reduction)
Darkness Blind
Sandstorm Blind
Scorched Earth burning
Scorched Earth damage
Blizzard chilled effect

I haven't tested those out, but that was the impression that I got from the twitter post.

Yep, that's roughly what I concluded during playtest, though I made a *huge* mistake. At current, Sandstorm's shield effect doesn't apply to elementals, so they take full damage during Sandstorm. I honestly knew this, for real you guys. I'm claiming egg nog. Skarn corrected me quite nicely and called it to the main pet devs' attention here: ( https://twitter.com/TheCrafticus/status ... 5335775232 ) So, hopefully that's being fixed.

But no, it seems like eles taking dmg during Lightning Storm is Working As Intended (tm).

So the benefits for Elementals during weather is what?
Sunlight - no negative effects
Cleansing Rain - no negative effects
Moonlight - no negative effects
Arcane Winds - no negative effects. I guess you still take extra damage from attacks boosted by Arcane Winds
Call Lightning - no negative effects. You will take and make extra damage from the lightning buff as it is a buff to opponents attacks.

Blizzard - you will not count as Chilled
Scorched Earth - you will not count as Burning
Darkness - you will not get -10% to hit and not count as Blinded
Muddy Weather - not tried this but I guess you will be able to change out the elemental
Sandstorm - you will not get -10% to hit and by being bugged you will not receive the damage reduction either.

My guess is that the weather effects are not split into positive/negative effect and that you either get all or nothing. So as you with Darkness you won't get minus to hit and not be blinded, the same applies to Sandstorm until they reprogram the abilities.

Not entirely. With Scorched Earth you also don't take the end-of-round damage as an elemental. That effect is local to the weather and unaffected by number or nature of opponent attacks or defenses. But I do think you're on to something, that the QA stuff they have to do to fix Sandstorm likely has to do with 'unzipping' the positive effect from the negative.
