I'll second (or third or fourth) Panderan Water Spirit and Chrominius. If you have 2 each of those, you can generally do Chi-Chi, Xu-Fu, and Zao with them.

This. It works every time easy. You can make mistakes it works. I've never lost and I've never gotten to the third snail.

Strategy I used from ptr and all 10 weeks on live servers before I got all my pets.
- Voodoo figurine - Wild magic, Rot (new undead ability, turn target to undead), swap on 2d pet
- Prairie dog -Comeback*3 or Comeback*2+Chomp, swap on voodoo
-Voodoo figurine - Wild magic, Rot, - voodoo dies. if no, shadow slash - voodoo dies, if no swap on 3d pet
- Yellow-Bellied marmot - Chomp or Comeback (your design about risk to miss and Chi-chi hp left)

I've used two snails and any magic - arcane eye.

Even though I have really bad RNG, I can count on this team to get Chi-chi. The drive is to time Dive with Ethereal, which is like the 3rd ability she uses

3 snails:

Quills does less damage to Critters.

Snails have Magic attacks, which are strong vs Chi-Chi.
Dive on the round chi-chi dodges.

I've never tried the snails method. How many rounds does it take to kill him?

Many, many rounds. It's reliable, but incredibly slow. Chrominius + Pandaren Water Spirit any day for me, done in a few rounds.

Thread res, but thanks for this discussion. Just salvaged a CT run that had bad RNG with my Valk with this team:

Pandaren Water Spirit
Alpine Foxling (any pet with howl would do)
Rapana Whelk (any snail)

geyser
whirlpool
howl
acidic goo
dive
WIN!

^ ChiChi can be Howl Bombed easily as stated, and has a cheap backup in the slower snail method from previous discussion before.

All of them can actually be cheesed though. The dragon can be solo'ed by Mr. Bigglesworth and the Bull and Tiger can be tore down by a variety of multi-hit combos. Call Lightning -> Swap to Pet that has multi-turn damage such as Lil Bling's Inflation or a Zandalari's Hunting Party - Win.
