Curse of Doom

Does Curse of Doom work the way it is reads in the text? It seems like it delivers damage in four rounds NOT five. Geyser has the same text and after I cast it the de-buff counter says "3" until next round then it goes to "2". When I cast Curse of Doom the counter goes to "4" the turn it is cast? Shouldn't you be able to:
1- cast Curse of Doom
2- switch pet
3- cast Geyser
4- cast whirlpool
5- switch pet
6- cast Howl and have everything go off at once?

Not quite. It's basically how I defeat all the BoF pets. Someone posted the strat before on the forums.

Instead of switching, though, you kill yourself for the damage buff, and then apply the Curse, then Geyser, Whirlpool, switch and Howl.

Understood but doesn't Curse of Doom go off in four rounds when the text says five?

Turn 1 - apply
Turn 2 - 4 round timer
Turn 3 - 3 round timer
Turn 4 - 2 round timer
Turn 5 - 1 round timer, goes off at end of round

It goes off in five rounds if you count the round it's applied. Seems to work the same way as other delayed damage abilities like Stun Seed and Geyser.

But that is the thing, Curse of Doom doesn't work the same as Geyser. The BOF strat is listed below. You can see Geyser goes off in four rounds if you count the round it is applied.
Round 1: Unholy Ascension
Your Unborn Val'kyr resurrects
Round 2: Curse of Doom
Your Unborn Val'kyr dies
Switch to Pandaren water spirit
Round 3: Geyser
Round 4: Whirlpool
Round 5: Switch to Chrominius
Round 6: Howl
At the end of this turn, Curse of Doom, Geyser and Whirlpool detonate at the same time with a +125% boost (25% from Unholy Ascension and 100% from Howl). The enemy takes a truckload of damage and is stunned.
Round 7: Surge of Power if the enemy is still alive
