How Do I Initiate Combat With a Wild Pet?

I've been trying to figure this out for over an hour. I have track pets enabled, I've trained at the battle master. I have my combat pet selected and summoned. Yet I can find no way to initiate combat. Help, please?

...you right click on the pet you want to battle.
If it's not working, try a relog.

No, it's not a general bug. I am battling perfectly fine right now.

You also have to look for a critter with a green paw over it. You can't battle just anything.
There may just not be many out there, depending on the zone. Elwin Forest & Durotar were crawling with people yesterday attacking everything in sight. Try going to one of the lesser used starting zones.

Durotar currently has a phasing bug that makes it nearly impossible to find green paws. When you do find them, they disappear as soon as you get to them. Trying Mulgore now... and I've heard Undercity is a good place to go.
