Anyone know the whereabouts of Sara Finkleswitch? Wowhead says she's a trainer but doesn't specify for horde or alliance and where she's located.

With a name like Finkleswitch, she's either a gnome or a goblin. I'll have to take a look for her later tonight.

Also, with the latest patch, Julia Stevens had a turbo-charged adolescence and now uses a normal human female model. Not sure if that's intentional. (I don't think it is...)

Hmm, maybe that's why I haven't been able to find her post-patch. I was wandering around looking for a little girl! They haven't moved her as well have they?

Nope. Same place, same snakes, same unwillingness to battle me since Blizz took away my Pet Battler ability...

Julia Stevens has been replaced in the latest update with Old MacDonald (and yes, he does talk about once having a farm  ), Master Pet Tamer. He appears to have a group consisting of Westfall Chicken, Mouse, and Tiny Harvester. He doesn't give you the option to start a fight even if you don't have the Pet Battling skill like Julia Stevens did. Steven Lisbane is still the same though...

When I searched Wowhead for Old MacDonald, not one, but two NPCs popped up in the search result. Interestingly enough, they're the same NPC except one is for a daily quest and the other offers a reward.

Looking up the other Pet Tamers, it seems like they have a normal quest and a daily quest listed for them too. They also offer a reward for defeating them: Sack of Pet Supplies.

I haven't been able to test it yet, but this is my guess at how Pet Tamer battles will work:
  • 1. Capture X number of pets or capture a certain pet.
    2. Auto-accept a quest to find and defeat a specifically named Pet Tamer. (Quest is non-sharable)
    3. Battle said Pet Tamer and receive a Sack of Pet Supplies.
    4. You have the option of battling that particular Pet Tamer once per day (daily quest).
    5. The Pet Tamer will either direct you to a higher level Pet Tamer or you'll need to capture X number of wild pets or get a certain pet to unlock another quest to defeat a tamer (of higher level) in a pet battle.
I've added Lindsay to the list since Wowhead has her listed as rewarding a Sack of Pet Supplies, but I'm not sure what Pet Tamer rank she is.

This list will be undergoing some maintenance!

Please list any Pet Battle Tamers you come across. Include the following:
  • Tamer's Name
Location (the more specific, the better!)
    Alliance or Horde or Neutral
The three pets the NPC has on their team (please note the pet level)
Thank you in advance to all those who provide this information. :)

Aggressive wrote:So how do you challenge these? :S
First step is to complete the quests given by the Pet Battles Trainer after you purchase training for Pet Battles. Once you've completed the first few quests, more should steadily pop up as you reach milestones in leveling your pets.

I think the first few quests to challenge and defeat a Pet Tamer show up once one of your pets hit level 3, 5, and then possibly 7, 10 or 11, and so on. Just keep an eye out for the auto-accept quest pop up whenever one of your pets level up.

Once you've completed the entire questline and defeated the Grand Master Tamer for a continent, dailies to fight the Tamers will unlock so you can keep engaging these NPCs in Pet Battles. The quests and dailies reward the Sack of Pet Supplies which has a chance of dropping pet leashes, vanity pet items, pet biscuits, pet bandages, and a new pet.

Thank you! This makes updating the list a little easier. :)

Are the NPCs in STV neutral or alliance only? Can horde somehow trigger the quest to battle them by simply fighting wild pets in the zone?

From what I can tell, all of the Pet Tamers are 'neutral'. I was able to talk to the Undead Pet Tamer in Ashenvale on my Alliance character. Wasn't given a quest to fight anyone in Kalimdor though and there was no option to challange her. This is probably because the other areas aren't set up just quite yet. (i.e. I don't think there will be seperate tamers for each faction)

There was a goblin tamer in Dustwallow right near Mudsprocket (literally outside the walls). I didn't catch a name, and my beta isn't working at the moment, but I did notice she had 3 pets with her.

Cassandra Kaboom, Master Pet Tamer. She's a goblin who stands in one of the "greens" of the golf course on Gallywix's Pleasure Palace. She has tons of robotic critters running in a circle around her.

Ok. Here's some changes I noticed with the patch:

All of the trainers pets' have a random rarity. (So don't fret forfeiting and restarting if you end up against a rare!)
Julia Stevens
Quest Requirement: Change to "Level 3 pet"

Old MacDonald
Quest Requirement: Change to "Defeating Julia Stevens (and turning in the quest to her)"

Lindsay
Quest Requirement: Change to "Defeating Old MacDonald (and turning in the quest to him)"

Eric Davidson
Quest Requirement: Change to "Defeating Lindsay (and turning in the quest to her)"

Steven Lisbane - Change to <Master Pet Tamer>
Quest Requirement: Change to "Defeating Eric Davidson (and turning in the quest to him)"
Note: All his pets are level 10.

Bill Buckler
Quest Requirement: Change to "Defeating Steven Lisbane (and turning in the quest to him)"
Note: All his pets are level 11. Defeating him opens up the next round of opponents.

Quests
--------
When you defeat Bill Buckler (and turn in the quest to him), he'll give you a quest to return to Audrey Burnhep. When you turn in that quest, it opens up the "Battle Pet Trainers: Eastern Kingdom" and "Battle Pet Trainers: Kalimdor" quests.
When you beat any of the trainers for these two quests (and probably any subsequent quests), you get a 5 min debuff called "Pet Recovery". This won't let you fight anymore npc trainers until the debuff is gone.

The Hinterlands
---------------------------
David Kosse <Master Pet Tamer>
Location: Walks the main road, between Hiri'watha Research Station and the turn off for Agol'watha
Pets: Hare, Jade Oozeling, Maggot
Daily Reward: ?
Notes: All pets are level 9.

Eastern Plaguelands
---------------------------
Deiza Plaguehorn <Master Pet Tamer>
Location: Camp on the NE bank of Pestilent Scar.
Pets: Infected Fawn, Mr. Grubbs, Spider
Daily Reward: ?
Notes: All pets are level 12.

Searing Gorge
------------------
Kortas Darkhammer <Master Pet Tamer>
Location: Thorium Point, near the Horde FP
Pets: Crimson Whelpling, Dark Whelpling, Emerald Whelpling
Daily Reward: ?
Notes: All pets are level 14.

Burning Steppes
---------------------------
Kortos Darkhammer <Master Pet Tamer>
Location: Walks the main road, between Chiselgrip and the turn off for Blackrock Mountain
Pets: Lava Beetle, Lava Crab, Tiny Flamefly
Daily Reward: ?
Notes: All pets are level 15. Be careful until the Volcano bug is fixed.

More to come when I actually beat this guy...
