Pet Levelling Advice Needed!

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I have been playing around with pet battles for a few weeks and really enjoy this aspect of WoW.

I have one team that I have been levelling: Mr Pinchy (lvl 22, aqua pet), Uzi IX MM (lvl 22, my ooze pet) and Darkwing (lvl 22, dark drake dragon pet). Either I am doing something fundamentally wrong in how I play my pets, or I have reached a point now where whatever I fight seems to kick the snot out of my guys. I usually send Uzi in first, then Darkwing and Pinchy does triage. I love Pinchy's wish ability, Uzi does well against flyers and some other class types and Darkwing is kinda hit and miss. I really wish Lift Off was more accurate.

Also, I'm levelling exclusively through fighting wild pets. It's incredibly slow. Should I be levelling the pets by doing the pet battle trainer daily quests I have unlocked? Is this way faster?

I'm considering levelling up another team although part of me wants to continue pushing through to 25. I know that beating the trainer in Shattrath with the three aquatic pets is going to be rough with no flyers, which is why I want to level up different kinds of pets. It seems very daunting and slow going through all this again.

I've rambled a lot, I guess my questions are:

When levelling up new pets, especially with access to some pet trainer battle daily quests, which is faster: daily quests and wild animals/or just wild animal battles?

What class groupings (ex elemental, flying, aquatic etc.) are a good all round team that can handle most of the pet battle trainers?

How do I get the pet sacks as rewards?

Thanks in advance, I'm a newb at this and haven't figured a lot out so pardon any obvious questions.

Tamers are almost always a significantly faster way to level pets.

What you should be focusing on now is getting a solid group of performers for specific tasks.
There's a thread here that discusses solid pets from each family.

A single team will not allow you to progress very far - particularly if you're grinding against groups that counter your team.
However, there are pets that are very powerful performers: Pinchy is one of them. Anubisath Idol is another.

I highly, highly recommend leveling up multiple teams so that you can mix-and-match teams to beat tamers.
The Outland Master Tamer is exceedingly difficult to beat unless you have a group designed for it.

It's possible to cheese some fights using a tank pet like Anubisath Idol and a Cockroach or Beetle using Apocalypse.
I don't recommend it, however - it's far better to simply design teams around the tamers.

Starter guide I wrote up for some guildies.
It might help you as well.

=======================================

TAMERS

Some of the best tamer strategies I've found are at World of WarPets.
Unfortunately, the author tends to only cover high-level, advanced tamers.

=======================================

ADDONS

There are a handful of addons that I highly recommend to my fellow tamers.

Pet Journal Enhanced:
PJE is a basic overhaul of the PetJournal, and it adds a lot of great features, including the ability to only display duplicates.

PetTracker:
PetTracker is the equivalent of Gatherer or Gathermate, but for Battle Pets.
It allows you to display all pets, or just the ones you don't have, or just the ones you don't have a Rare for.
It also shows opponent abilities and cooldowns during battles, so you can keep track of what the other side has.

Battle Pet Breed ID:
This is for advanced tamers who are interested in specific breeds of pets.
This addon not only displays the breed ID of your pets, it displays the breed ID of opposing pets as well.
It also allows you to see all possible breeds available for an individual pet.

Daily Tamer Check:
With dozens of pet battle dailies available to tamers, it can be difficult to keep track of which ones you're doing.
This addon not only shows the location of each tamer, but it also shows whether you've completed the daily for that tamer or not.

Pet Battle Teams:
Once you start doing Tamer Dailies regularly, this addon will become invaluable. It allows you to setup pre-made teams and choose them from a list.
It also places your heal and bandage buttons at the bottom of the list for quick access from the pet screen.

Also, I'd like to point out that you don't need to use the the tamer dailies that award the bags exclusively to level. All the other tamers become dailies once you complete the continent quest.

Take a few lowbies and one high level and go knock the snot out of all the leveling tamers. Keep in mind these tamers are usually only good for leveling low level pets.

there are many posts here at on other sites that can outline which pets to use against which tamers for best leveling curve. many, if not all tamers, can be beat with either 1 or 2 pets leaving the other slots for leveling pets.

For example, Bloodknight Antari in Shadowmoon Valley, I can beat him with my Infinite Whelpling and Magical Crawdad only leaving the 3rd slot for a leveling pet. That leveling pet needs to be mid level or higher though to survive the initial hit.

If someone were to start from scratch, I would use One Mech and One Beast, then later one Flying when the third slot opens.

With a Mech, Beast and Flying you can clobber/capture most wild pets, that are mostly critters, Beasts and Aquatic

As you progress through the zones, you can always pick up the latest and greatest Aquatic

Thanks Gendou for the info, particularly the Stone Recommendations. I was just about to ask the question that you already beat me to answering. ;)
