I hope they add more then just 1 pet with the pet battle achievements i think a pet should be awarded for defeating all 4 trainers of a continent and have that pet be a special pet from that continent, for example mini chromaggus for eastern kingdoms and a mini alysrazor for kalimdor.

The Tiny Goldfish has the requirement "The Anglers - Honored". As I write, there is no rep vendor for The Anglers yet. From data-mining we know reputation with them will be primarily gained through level 90 daily fishing quests.

I'm a bit skeptical about this atm. I haven't found any other source that indicates this pet as being an achievement award, the actual achievement doesn't have any rewards attached to it (for now), and all other pets obtained through achievements have been Bind on Pick Up (the vermling is BoU atm).

We'll see, though! Lots of time for things to change.

EDIT: Both Wowhead and MMO-Champ databases are showing the achievement with the reward now! I still find it unusual that the pet reward is BoU, though.

I guess since we can trade pets in MoP... achievement rewards don't need to be tagged as BoP? Would that mean players wouldn't actually need to complete the achievement to get the pet? Not sure how to feel about that if this is the case....

You can buy it, but its just a placeholder and cant be learned.

I just got a pet called Fishy from the Let Them Burn quest in Jade Forest, but he's not in my Pet Journal...
I can summon him by "/use Fishy" though:

I will try learning a pet on a new character to see if it resets the count like it did when all the pets disappeared.

This is what I initially thought too. But after taking a closer look, they're two separate items: Chirping Box (achievement reward) and Chirping Package. The package version was added in patch 5.0.1 (beta), while the box was added in patch 4.2.0. Very intriguing!

Maybe the Chirping Package will be a cricket!

Or a Grasshopper? They mentioned a grasshopper pet being in the works for MoP during Blizzcon 2011.

A package is usually something that comes in the mail, perhaps it's tied to an achievement.

some possibilities:

• it's tied to an achievement about doing the daily version of a quest (that used to give you the choice between two pets) many times. you get the pet you didn't get before from it;
• it's tied to an achievement or quest and the reward is different depending on your faction;
• it's actually not a pet. it's a mount (faction dependent) obtained through some promotion (like the scroll of res mount);

doubt blizzard are mean enough to stuff a mount in a package unless of course you raise a hawkstrider or some other bird mount from a little hatchling up to being a full sized adult that you can use as a mount. I'm sticking with a grasshopper that you get from a battle achievement, considering it's probably used as a karate kid reference... this is mists of pandaria after all and blizzard love referencing popular media items.

but they are spectral, you could deliver them in a pencil if you wanted to (although the pencil would be inside them :/). with the addition of the cloud serpent mounts and having to raise them into mounts perhaps we'll be able to raise a grasshopper from a companion into a mount lol.

Never mind, I was thinking of the Chirping Box. That has the Mini Jouster. The Chirping Package is something else.

A cricket would be pretty neat, and would fit well with the Asian theme, though I can't remember whether keeping pet crickets is more of a Chinese or Japanese custom.

Also, I love the letter that comes with the Spectral Mount crate.
