Pet of the Month - Albatross Chick

Be sure to check out this month's [url=https://www.warcraftpets.com/news/albatross-chick-pet-of-the-month-june-2017/]feature on the Albatross Chick[/url]!

How Do You Use Your Albatross Chick?
Anyone who’s run Eye of Azshara can tell you just how terrifying this pet can be to face. Seagulls in general have awoken many a dungeon crawler in a cold sweat. It’s easy to see where this flying pet is persistently annoying in dealing its damage.

One thing to be wary of is the inherent RNG-heavy nature of its main line attacks. Both [ability]Slicing Wind[/ability] and [ability]Thrash[/ability] can hit multiple times. However, with the Flying family speed trait Thrash will likely provide the most throughput, with an obvious caveat about damage type interactions. Having Thrash available boosts this pet quite a bit in my estimation. Though Flying pets with Beast attacks are fairly common, being able to switch things up like that always boosts the versatility of what you can do with any pet.

I’ve actually made a decent amount of use of the [pet]Albatross Chick[/pet] in doing some of the [url=http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=9696/family-familiar]Family Familiar[/url] challenges. Thrash is a powerhouse for off-family Critters, and having a Cyclone in my back pocket to chip away at a perhaps less forgiving backline is the icing on the cake.

There are many other pets you could grab similar to the Albatross Chick. With the ‘fun in the sun’ theme for June, the all-around ‘best’ pet with this exact moveset wasn’t in consideration. The [pet]Imperial Eagle Chick[/pet] is the only one with a P/P breed, making it the best choice for a DPS pet like this, but isn’t quite as 'beach-y'. The Albatross Chick has a high natural Power stat, however, with a P/B breed -- still a very solid choice. There was a bit of internal debate as well, because the [pet]Sea Gull[/pet] has an S/S breed with a high natural Speed stat, making it a great choice to keep benefiting from Thrash even after the Flying family trait is lost.

There are some others to consider too, like the [pet]Gold Mini Jouster[/pet] or [pet]Fledgling Oliveback[/pet], which just barely rearrange the moveset and come out with excellent stats. Most seem to lack the feeling of the sea like the Albatross Chick does, though.

So, how do you use your Albatross Chick? Do you have a different favorite Flying pet? Is there a different pet you’ve just got to take to the beach? Tell us about it!
