Here's the team that I used on the PTR: [url=http://wowpetaddiction.blogspot.com/2016/09/patch-71-ptr-algalon-pet-battle-strategy.html]Algalon strategy[/url]

[pet]Macabre Marionette[/pet] - H/P (1/2/1)
[pet]Emerald Proto-Whelp[/pet] - P/P (1/1/2)
[pet]Infested Bear Cub[/pet] - H/H (1/2/2) (I think H/P could work as well)

Haven't tried it yet on live, but don't think there were any changes to the fight so it should still work fine.

Quintessence's strategy didn't really work for me. It seemed that every crit means that you you have to start over. I used the other [url=http://wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=Algalon&s=340&a=2]strategy[/url] posted on Xu-Fu's site. Worked on the 1st try so I can't really tell wether or not it is reliable. Just keep in mind that the [pet]Zandalari Anklerender[/pet] definitely has to be the S/S breed.

Quintessence's strategy worked well for me. I had to re-start the fight twice due to a critical hit and a wrong move but then it worked out perfectly.

There has to be a better strat. I've tried 3 of them so far and none of them have been close at all. I guess I'll try to invent my own but I'm not very good at that.

Edit: This is the only one that worked on the first try for me:

Zandalari Anklerender - S/S - 2,1,2
Direhorn Runt - H/H or H/S - 1,2,2
Infested Bear Cub - 1,2,2

vs. Comet
Black Claw, Hunting Party, then Leap which should kill Comet. Black claw until your Anklerender dies.
Bring in your Infested Bear and cast hibernate. Cosmo will automatically swap to your Direhorn Runt.

vs. Cosmo
Stampede, Trihorn Charge. Swap to Infested Bear Cub when Constellatius comes out.

vs. Constellatius
Hibernate on cooldown. Pass all other rounds

It would be helpful to read about the problems (details) people experience with my (2nd on XuFu) or quintessence's strategy and not only see comments "not even close / not working" or the like. I tried a lot of things and with my final team I stopped/restarted the fight multiple times to make sure it didn't work only once because it's not possible to do the fight again if you won.

In my case there is a video you can compare, so where did your tries go wrong exactly?

I guess I didn't want to read a novel for one battle. Maybe I'm different, but I prefer straight to the point, fastest battle teams I can find. No fuss. No muss. All the attempts I made were recorded and are on my twitch channel if you're really, really, curious but I hope you're not. They're really not interesting to watch, but they all failed despite following instructions perfectly.

Nothing turns me off to a team more than one that doesn't work on the first try. Patience isn't a strength I have.

With my team/strategy being "butt" of course I am interested in your trys, so please link your VoD where you tried to use it.

Not willing to read wall of texts... yeah that's another story I want to discuss somewhere else, some people want written descriptions even for videos with voice overlay, others search for videos but expect Podcasts and give a shit what happens in the video etc. Very difficult to make everyone happy

All in all, and I should say that Q's strategies usually work for me as well, the only issue with some of these strategies, and it doesn't really matter if they are Q's or Gawd's or the Devil's, there are certain things that are tough all around ... and it's like in some cases the stun does not come on round 3 or 4 but on 5, and your adjustment was too early ... as you took the suggestions literally ... and probably did not have Pet Tracker (or equivalent) that shows you which spells the enemy has and is using, and you know when the cool down is over so you can be ready to cover.

As an example, in the Timeless Isle a couple of the Moth's are nearly the same, except that some have this before that, and that before this, and sometimes they are interchangeable, and if you are a "format" player, you're gonna have a hard time. I used Anubis in there to open things (before I learned about the Teroclaw!), and on occasion, you ended up stunned and losing a round, and already took 700 damage and not been able to cast once, because I was set on my strategy, and not what the Moth was doing! A look at the spells and you know that (usually) it is wise to try to stun you, and make you lose a round, before the big hit ... and you do not have a shield ready (always first) you will lose those two rounds and take big damage!

The details, and the wording in the log, is probably too much, even for me, but having something like PT helps some. And the difference in the bigger fights? Yep ... the details, and not just your team, because if you do not use them correctly, your team will also take a dump!

Mayday. Mayday. He found my secret stream. Retreat!

Well, I either misread or made a judgement call on one move. Not sure. If your strat works then I apologize, but I still think the one I found that caused the win was superior. Thanks you taking the time to sift through my video instead of having me do it. You're a true Jedi.™

What a challenge this fight turned out to be! And how incredibly satisfying to finally get it right after I don't know how many tries! :D GJ Blizz!

I refused to look up any guides, but rather experimented with all kinds of pets, which was interesting but not very fruitful. I didn't start feeling like I was onto something untill I used Fiendish Imp (Immolation, Nether Gate), Wicked Soul (Haunting Song, Haunt), and Kovok (Poison Fang, Digest Brain, Black Claw),
the idea being to swap out the nasty dragon, dot up the rabbit, heal and stall untill it dies from the ticks, again send the dragon to the backline, then heal whenever possible while the calf is in, waiting for the Cataclysm counter to run out, apply dots while preparing to forceswap him with the dragon, bring in dragon and wicked soul to greet the cataclysm (the undead gets its turn after), and then let the full health Imp and barely alive Kovok deal with what's left of the calf :D
..and after a good handful of tries that combination eventually worked and I came out on top in a 32-round fight, and am now a proud owner of the amazing looking Stardust pet :)

GL!

I went with a teroclaw to survive the Apocalypse pet, seemed to work really well. Went with my standard Zandalari swarm pet to kill off the first quickly and the Direhorn runt tactic for the rabbit. I couldn't get it because my 3rd pet kept dying until I swapped to the terroclaw; that wonderful OP bastard.

If you still have problems a sun-team works very well to kill pet 1 and 2 and the 3rd kils itself :D
just takes time....

strategy posted on Xu-Fu's site.
This strategy worked for me perfectly (patch 9.2). I tried over 100 other combinations and this one was super easy.
