I just picked up the journal and used it. Accepted the quest and beat him. Went to turn the quest in and I can challenge him again and again. Used a level 20 frog with just my hat on and got 2.2k xp. Not sure what happens if i turn it in but yea. You can just challenge him over and over to level pets.

The main thing that sucks about this though is that there does not seem to be a single Stable master anywhere to be found in Azsuna. I also cant find a good two pet team to fight him since each time you battle him his pets movesets switch.

Yeah, it can be used, but the quest to summon the pet battle is a weekly :(

You can battle the Shipwrecked Captive as many times as you like before turning that weekly quest in. :ugeek:

In theory that makes him a bit like Squirt, if you manage to get a reliable and fast strategy going with a carry pet.

Yes, I just checked it on my Horde DH to be sure that it works for both factions and I noticed that you get 11500 XP (@101) for your character after each battle.

I also noticed the trolling potential of that item... Summon the guy next to the spot where Khadgar isn't appearing after the bugged introduction quest and you will see a lot of confused players.

Here is my post i put on Wowhead to carry a pet:
Scuttles will have Shiny Carapace with either Dive or Claw.
Clamps will have his 3 move set with Infected Claw, Shellshield and Carpnado
Kiazor will have Scratch with either Burrow or Dodge.

IF SCUTTLES HAS CLAW AND NOT DIVE RESTART UNTIL HE HAS DIVE
I say this because if he has claw it drags the fight out even longer and I have not found a way to shorten it yet. Its simply quicker to do the dive fight.

The team Ive been using to farm xp is:

Anubisath Idol (P,P) 1,2,1
Swamp Croaker (H,S) 2,2,2
Any level pet with over 450hp or 300 for magic/600 for Elemental.

Round 1: Stoneskin
Round 2: Deflection
Round 3-6: Crush (A crit here could kill him if it does move to Round 9.
Round 7: Stoneskin; Scuttles Dives
Round 8: Deflection; Blocks Dive
Round 9: Swap to Carry
Round 10: Swap to Croaker
Round 11: Swarm of Flies
Round 12+: Tongue Lash until dead (Depending on RNG he may dive again. If he does use Bubble the turn he dives down)
Round 13+: Clamps enters; Tongue Lash until Clamps dies and resurrects.
Round 14: Swarm of Flies; Clamps dies for good.

Kiazor enters; He will have Scratch with either Burrow or Dodge. Same method applies
Round 1: Swap back to Idol. Kiazor will either use Dodge or Burrow.
Round 2: Deflection; Cant hit him anyway and prevents any damage.
Round 3+: Crush until Dodge or Burrow come off cooldown.
Round 4+: Stoneskin then Deflection then Crush; Repeat until dead.
