The grind of the 1K achievements feels like real work lol, and to counter it I find myself thinking often which pets are just the most pure fun to play.

Naturally, its only fun if its at least reasonably successful with win rate.

So Lil Ragnaros is one of my personal favorites, and I find immolation build just as fun as trap build. May I ask for some team suggestions to get this guy out in the field more?

Hmm, I do not play him much but traps are strong so how about pairing him with Stonegrinder and a third pet that removes objects. (Graves?)

Lil' Ragnaros - Sulfurus Smash, Magna Trap, Sons of the Flame
Stonegrinder - Screeching Gears, Thunderbolt, Clean-Up
Graves - Skull Toss, Consume Corps, Grave Destruction

Hirus has posted previous a trap based team that looks really good as well, called Snap Traps:

Lil' Ragnaros - Sulfurus Smash, Magna Trap, Sons of the Flame
Curious Wolvar Pup - Bite, Snap Trap, either
DAH - Poison Fang, Puncture Wound, Blinding Poison

This one has done very well in win percentage but I havent played many games yet.

So i've two Trap-based teams, each viable with tier 1 pets for staying power/output.

Has anyone a strong and successful [ability]Burning[/ability] build team?

Looking at [ability]Magma Wave[/ability], [ability]Conflagrate[/ability] and [ability]Flamethrower[/ability] as Rag's moveset.

Can anyone with more experience in team-synergy than I suggest teammates please?

Combine the DoTs with Plague Blood & Touch of Animus for some nice heals.

Aquatic pets will ruin you though.
