Cleave Based Teams
Lately, I have found in lol 25 PvP battles that there is an abundance of cleave teams involving numerous pets that deal group damage; such as, weebomination, fossilized hatchling, mechanical pandaren dragonling, etc..
Thoughts on these teams or way to counter them?
My opinion is that they're almost too strong to deal with... Being able to deal high group damage consistently really adds up. I was thinking maybe having at least one pet with a group heal would be a decent counter to the cleave damage?
Thoughts?

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Real annoying teams to run into and seems to be something of a trend, so you see them a lot these days.
Since weebo and the fossile is included in most these group damage teams, this is really the chance for a pet like the alpine foxling to shine, his howl and flurry making quick work of undeads
Would certainly look into building the counter around him.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Definitely a balance of elemental and critter damage would be crucial. They're practically all built with undead or mechanical pets. Is there any method to even deal with the decoys set out about the mechs? Decoy always buys them more time to cleave out more damage

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Doesn't the terrible turnip come with an ability that quickly takes out constructions like decoy? It's got group heal as well (if a bit low), and is an elemental
Re: Cleave Based Teams
Ya was thinking about one of the turnips or even lil' ragnaros except he lacks the healing aspect
Re: Cleave Based Teams
The problem with those teams is that if you have a strong pet in the front they can only deal 1-2 hits before they are dead.
Those groups are really easily blocked - either by forcing them to swap or having big dmg dealing abilities.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Sandstorm should also be extremely effective against them as it should reduce the damage to each of your pets effectively tripling the damage reduction.
Re: Cleave Based Teams
A 333 speed Imp can almost solo a whole team of Mech Dragon.
Old school memory.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
I also like the alpine foxling- p/b breed but I use crouch
Willy is a pet that slams undead ...you can pick Rot to make an opp.pet be undead (no racial advantage for it oc)
The vengeful porc is excellent when paired with the foxling to hurt undead
the ore eater is great on any team...I have tried 3 breeds and the p/b and s/s are terrific, alternately as a 3rd I like Mr wiggles to counter the numerous humanoids in pvp

Keep in mind one of the AoE pets is Yula, a dragonkin.

Surprisingly I haven't seen any Yula's yet in battle! Seems ot be more of Fossilized Hatchlings and Mech-Dragonlings

Can't believe I haven't thought of sandstorm yet!

Cleave teams will be even more brutal with this upcomming cleave pet Graves
http://ptr.wowhead.com/npc=91226/my-special-pet#petabilities
My Special Pet has been renamed to Graves and comes from the Heroes of the Storm promotion. It could be a mini marrowgar as its a tiny skull golem. But it packs both Bonestorm and the base 40 split damage move Grave Destruction that destroys all objects on the battlefield.
Also, it has some seriously good base stats, even if the breed isnt known yet, very high power and low speed. Perfect for undead.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Sigh. Another BONESTORM pet is not really what is needed. Although it does not have Ancient Blessing it has much higher Health than the Hatchling and while Consume has a 1 turn cooldown it seems to go well with BONESTORM->Conesume->Grave Destruction->Consume->BONESTORM.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Just when pet PvP seemed somewhat balanced...the only teams you'll find in the queue are undead and undead counter teams
The odd Mpd, Anub. and elemental maybe...
Short of a change to the undead racial, we'll never see the end of them

Re: Cleave Based Teams
I like the Frostwolf Ghost Pup. It is a strong AoE counter. It is a strong individual pet with a very useful group heal.
I would say that sandstorm teams and/or control teams are favored.
But yes, AoE teams are very strong.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
Just bring a team of Spiders if you keep getting constant AoE teams... just use brittle webbing on CD, and watch them die.
Sadly, you'll get rekt by most other comps.

Re: Cleave Based Teams
I haven't seen a huge number of them, (I think the time/effort investment of the Celestial Tournament, plus the fact that two other pets there might have higher priority contributes to its absence.). But the ones I've seen in use (often teaming with Weebo) are nasty to face.Svycke wrote:Rikmach wrote:Keep in mind one of the AoE pets is Yula, a dragonkin.

Maybe ill have to try him next... Just bought Zao this week so it'll take a while before I could give him a go.Rikmach wrote:I haven't seen a huge number of them, (I think the time/effort investment of the Celestial Tournament, plus the fact that two other pets there might have higher priority contributes to its absence.).
