one-shot wonder (fluxfire feline)

Fluxfire Feline. I doubt anyone has leveled one of these to 25 yet, considering the current XP situation. However it's easy to calculate his damage output so I figured we could start discussing it now.

There's two breeds, 5 and 8, with 293 power and 322 power. Let's just talk about the breed 5, since 293 power is more than enough.

If he uses Wind-Up, then Supercharge, then Wind-Up, he does (45+(2.25*293))*1.1*2.5 = 1936 damage. This is a lot! I was going to type out the calculation for the 322 power breed, but it's kind of pointless since 1936 one-shots virtually anything anyway. For reference, the du jour 3 turn combo of Lift-Off+Ghostly Bite (breed 7 Blighthawk) does 1381 damage (but with a 20% miss chance on the Lift-Off).

Some things to note: Supercharge does not have a duration, it simply stays on until you use an attack. This means that the Feline can choose to pass if the opponent uses Dodge/Burrow/Lift-Off/etc., and hit for the same damage one turn later. If you stun the Feline, he just waits until un-stunned and hits for the same damage one turn later. The breed 5 Feline also has 325 speed, meaning he will most likely be going first and will know whether the attack will land when he decides to use it. So you can delay the 1936 Wind-Up, but you probably can't make him waste it. This also means that you will likely only get 2 actions before getting hit for 1936. Finally, he's a mechanical: even if you kill him, he gets at least one extra turn to land the combo.

The solutions that I see are: kill it in 2 turns (this includes his rez, so it's really kill it on turn 1, then kill it again on turn 2; or you can take up to 3 turns if you can beat 325 speed); beat 325 speed and have an evasion or interrupt, and correctly guess when to use it; guess correctly with Reflect; be an elemental, in which case you only take 1290 from the combo.

This pet already hits fairly hard at low levels, so your predictions of it being a tough opponent seem spot on. It reminds me a lot of Major Payne's mechanical pet, so I'm pretty excited to see how it does at max level!

That's a good comparison. Major Payne's Mechapeep has 305 power and he can do a 3 turn combo of Wind-Up (1.1*(45+(305*2.25))) plus Shock and Awe (30+(305*1.5)), or 750 + 490, for roughly 1250 total.

Personally I am not a fan of that Mechapeep -- that's the first tamer fight that I had to countercomp to beat. Feline is more fragile, but he's doing 50% more damage with those 3 turns, and is also faster.

Cool, I got a rare and uncommon both 5s. I will have to level him.
I am still missing 4 of the new battle pets but hope to get them early tomorrow morning.

There is some ability that interrupts multi-turn abilities. Can't think of it right now.

Kick (Flayer Youngling, Hopling) and Eyebeam (Willy, and I think the new arcane eye/darkmoon eye). These will prevent the Wind-Up from going off, if you can go first (but none of those guys is faster than 325). However they will not remove the wind-up or supercharge buffs or put anything on cooldown. So they delay the big wind-up by a turn, but the feline can still blast you on the next turn.

I met it in battle yesterday and noticed it could do some crazy dmg. But on his big attack he missed my pet, so the problem is if opponent avoids that one attack it's game over.

Don't remind me of that monster...

I'm curious though; why make Fluxfire Feline's 3rd abilities so similar?

I agree he's toast if he whiffs on the big wind-up, but wind-up has no inherent extra miss chance like Instability or Lift-Off. It sounds like in your case the feline was either lower level and/or you got pretty lucky. At 325 speed, it's not easy to actively avoid the wind-up.

Supercharge is strictly better than Prowl, and it unlocks at lvl 20. So I guess it's a bit more like regular toon progression, you don't get a choice as much as a direct upgrade as a reward for leveling. I appreciate the flavorful-ness though, to have a mech-only ability and a cat-only ability on a mechanical cat.

That sounds like an awesome Nuker indeed!
I got myself one this morning just before heading to work, I guess I'll have to go back cause that one was just a poor quality one.. I'll need a blue and I'll need to take him to 25 asap, he'll be my Beast-Killer! :D

I recently leveled my Fluxfire Feline to 25, he is a #5 breed and of rare quality. So far I'm getting hits of 1700 - 1800 with Supercharge + Wind - up, against beasts this increases to around a 2800 hit. Also - Supercharge + Pounce hits quite hard vs. critters (up to 1200) which takes 1 less turn to set up. He is definitely quite the nuke ;)

Apparently the wild pet xp was fixed somewhat, i just used 1 extra pet to get him from 1 - 20, then i used him to solo wild beasts in Pandaria. (Getting roughly 400 - 600xp per fight) Took maybe 2 - 3 hours total? It wasn't hard. :)

PS. Had a 4.2k crit on the grub while doing the Valley of the Four Winds Daily quest!

XP is kinda sorta fixed: I'm getting 1100 or so if I use 2 pets on a pandaria trainer. Not as much as pre-patch but enough to entice me to lvl the mechakitty and an emerald proto.

At lvl 7, my fluxfire critted farmer nishi's flower for 700+; at lvl 22, he one-shot Major Payne's stupid bear cub (with 2 rounds of set up). Wind-Up plus Supercharge is just way too much multiplier.

If you're still hunting this lil fellow, make a gnome on a low pop server: they spawn in the gnome starting area pretty frequently (10 min or so).

Let me add one more very hard hitter from the new 5.1 pets: Chrominius . Howl + Bite + Surge of Power hits like a truck in 3 turns; until lvl20, you can use Howl + Bite + Bite.

Sorry, I do not have the formula to calculate it precisely.

Please vorfige me for rgammar miskates; ingiliz not is ym tanive ganluage.

That's also quite nasty. Chrominius has 276 power, so it's

2 * ((20+276)+(50+2.5*276)) = 2072

Just Howl + Surge is 1480.

He's doing this with 260 speed, and he relies on a debuff, so he's much easier to avoid with dodge-type moves or just swapping out. But this is another nice case of stacked multipliers creating obscene burst.

I would love a link to the site where you find the formula for abilities, I can't find it on wowhead(if thats where I am supposed to look), so a bit more direction(aka a direct link) would be awesome. :) Thanks

When it comes to OP pets, how about that Kun-Lai Runt, I dont have the formula so I cant calculate the number, but its seems this combo would be nice: Frost Shock + Deep Freeze + Takedown (chill & reduce speed + 100% chance of stun with loads of damage + loads of damage since the target is stunned)

However, like always in PvP, pets can be swapped after any of the two first steps, so not the best for PvP after all.

There's actually a tool on this website for it. If you type fluxfire feline into the search on the homepage, and click on the battle info tab there's a slider and rarity setting etc. Then you just look at the stats it should have for whatever breed id and check your pet ingame.

Some PetBattle addons also give an indication to what breed your pet is, you can find a few on WoW Curse.
