Want some opinions on which critters to go for/level up.

So, I feel (for my needs) that my pet collection is quite diverse. However, I have noticed aside from one S/S black rat - lvl25, I dont really have ANY critters.

So, great wealth of knowledge that is WCP...what critters do you guys feel are worth having and using.'

I have a spring rabbit that I stoned as well, but he is still lvl 1.

An S/S rabbit is quite an useful pet to have for many tamer battles. I usually go with a [pet]Tolai Hare Pup[/pet] as its the smallest of them. Sorta amusing to see a little fluffball topple a much larger pet. Speedy Rabbits are masters of evasion!

A H/H [pet]Shimmershell Snail[/pet] or [pet]Scooter the Snail[/pet] will provide the toughest of all critters. Capping out at 1969 hp, and having a strong setup with Absorb, Shell Shield and Dive and is a superb double counter to elementals. Less damage taken from them and high damage done to them. It is highly useful on any battles involving elementals!

Finally [pet]Red Cricket[/pet] is a hideously strong bug and useful for a couple tamer fights involving undead. But it really shines when facing Wrathion in the Celestial Tournament. It will eat his starting undead pet.

I dont use any other critters than the above.

The spring rabbit and it's 357 speed is a beast in pvp.
Kills undead, hello there mr valk, and does a good job versus beast pets like the death addler being faster and it's dodge plus burrow gets lots of shots in and takes none.
Really annoys addlers since can dodge the blinding poison.
Snails aren't bad tanky pets with high life, heals and dive moves.
Squirrels with bleed, aoe acorn move and stampede do some nice damage and work well with lighting teams or pets with blood in the water moves.

Mr. Wiggles kills humanoids. Idols goes down in a few hits. Runts with elemental damage are only dangerous if they use the beast attacks which they often won't.

S/S Praire Mouse is my go to critter right now. It has both Flurry and Poison Fang, then option between survival or stamped. It is immensely useful against Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling and undead in general. Also does a good showing vs other mechanicals with Poison Fang and Stampede. Not good vs humanoids at all, especially crappy vs idol.

I also like to use Gu'chi Swarmlig. Chew+Stampede will destroy any undead foolish enough to stay put. Then Consume for a nice heal.

Fast rabbits are good, as noted above, just because they can evade a lot due to the dodge and burrow.

One I like that hasn't been mentioned above are bandicoons. Powerball plus Tongue Lash is really effective against undead.

Critters rock! Their racial makes them incredibly useful (CC doesn't work on them) and don't they take less damage in general? I'm not sure about that one. You should get an s/s rabbit to level 25. Their tunnel and dodge talents are very strong. The crickets are great battle pets to have at level 25. Snails too.

I frequently use a S/S Darkmoon Rabbit, Marmot (speed), S/S Rabbit, Mr Wiggles, Imperial Silkworm, Gu'chi Swarmling and Armadillo Pup. I would rate them in that order.
Honorable mentions (that I do not use anymore) would be Squirrel, Shimmershell Snail, Wolpertinger & Mouse.

You know, thats actually a pretty good combo for Gu'chi Swarmling! Plus Consume will benefit from Shattered Defenses to provide a hefty heal. Youve inspired me to level up that grub, never noticed the usefulness of it before now.

Thats great Luciandk. I'm always happy when I can get someone to try something new.

It works really well vs decoys as well, first chew and then swarm(not stampede as I said in my first post, not that it matters much). The swarm breaks the decoy and leaves the debuff up for the chew to hit for a lot.

The swarmling usually can take care of one opponent, and sometimes leave swarm debuff up on the next. But of course is totally wasted against aquatics with shell or the likes of the Idol. But the main "problem" I have faced is that consume has a 1 round cooldown so it makes it harder to make use of the 2 turns the shattered defences are up. Though you can do a chew and then Consume too but the possibility that you need consume right after swarm is quite high.

It did two-shot a Fossilized Hatchling with chew+swarm easy enough.

Hrm, it strikes me that Courageous Yon uses this very combo too with his final Goat pet. Swarm+Chew. Though his goat packs a heal as the third ability. Which no player attainable goats can, so GuChi is superior in that regard.

The two Lambs(critters) and the Ram and Summit Kid(beasts) also have chew + stampede, but their third attack would be between soothe(!) or Comeback(wich is quite crappy)

If it's PvP you wanna do, lvl that stoned Spring Rabbit ASAP. S/S rabbits are one of only two critters that I use for PvP, the other being a S/S squirrel. Critters are probably my favorite family of pets and have what I consider a very useful racial, but alas, VERY few of them are actually viable in competitive pet PvP. Keep in mind that Blizzard seems to have it in for critters as well, as some of the most common and powerful pets you will encounter in PvP are very hazardous to critters health. Such examples are:

DAH (Death Adder Hatchling)
Chrominus - At least he is fairly predictable, giving you a chance if you play smart and evade/swap
Qiraji Guardling/Anubisath Idol - Sandstorm basically neuters your dmg output
Any crab with Shell Shield - If they run with Surge, they take away one possible hit of your flurry and one effective round of dodge while taking minimal dmg from multi-hit attacks, and Snap is strong against critters and is their other main attack, though doesn't go first like surge
Xu-Fu -One un-dodged Porwl'd hit and you are likely dead
Direhorns - At least you wont get stunned by Horn Attack, but their dmg output against critters makes that moot anyway
Monkeys
Raptors
Above half-health birds

There are others, but these are the ones that you will run into the most. Now, it's not all bad. With the two critters that I listed, their speed gives them a great advantage over a lot of pets. You can normally get two rounds out of dodge because of their speed, and burrow gives you another avoidance attack with delayed dmg added to it (though a woeful hit rate). Rabbits are very strategic if you are good at anticipating. For example, saving your evasion moves for big incoming hits if you expect them to come. In the squirrels case, Crouch makes him very "tanky", and his dmg output isn't bad against anything not shielded/sand stormed. Critters also fare very well against undead, and since people love to ride the cheese-train and spam Valks, you should have good results there.

Genome, I do feel though that there is more room for critters right now. In 5.3 with direhorns in every match, critters were totally useless.

As you said now they work well against Valkyr and to a lesser degree Fossilized Hatchling(and other undead ofc).

Almost any critter will do well against Lil Ragnaros. Especially if you got Crouch or Burrow. You will take laughable damage and not be interrupted/stunned by the trap.

Yeah, I completely forgot to mention Lil' Rag! Good catch. Critters are great for soaking the trap, and in the case of critters running with burrow, they can have a laugh if Rag uses Sons of the Flame as the burrow will hit him for big dmg while he is still underground.
