OK so maybe this is naive of me, but I dont get the notion of a non combat battlepet.

If it's World of Warcraft, then why not put them to war? Many of us own these kites, ballons, gruntlings and pages that are sitting on their duffs, rusting away in our stables ...I say put an end to their sedentary ways .... to the Arena they should go !!!

Who's with me here ..could we stir up some support here to get these pets to see some action ?!?!? In an ideal world, Blizz will cater to the masses and bend to our collective will!

Also- i will post this in the Pet battles forum as well to garner all support possible
----------------------------
Please express your interest either by chiming in your agreement or posting a battle set of attacks for the pet you'd like to see become a real battler!
----------------------------
ps - if someone really wants an actual non combat pet - i vote it be called The Peaceful Potato (as in couch) , or the Pacifiying Pacifist (baby soother- with sleep and hibernate as non attacks in their non battle set!)

gruntlings and pages
Gruntlings and Pages were morally questionable to some. There was a large thread with outrage at the notion of sending your Page or Gruntling into battle. I do not have any moral objections against using these pets, I personally consider the Wolvar Pup and Oracle Hatchling to be more questionable. I gladly use these orphans in pet battles! I would also send Gruntlings and Pages into battle. I however respect the wishes of those who take offense in sending a child (of the same race) into battle. It does create some diversity I guess!
kites, ballons
I like using the Tuskarr Kite & Dragon Kite. The Dragonkite, especially, is a flying pet with a unique moveset. I personally would like to see more kites that can be used in battles. Kites sadly are quite peacful and decorative in their nature.
Blizzard might even have chosen to keep the TCG kites unique and different from the newer kites.

I am quite excited about sending a balloon into battle.

I like that there are companion pets that can NOT be used in battles. We already have hundreds of companions that can battle. Why would you want to make sure that every pet would be capable of battling? There are enough options out there for people who like to battle. I feel that diversity will be better.

There might be some people out there who would prefer peaceful companions. I am not one of them. But why shouldn't these people get catered to, if there is almost no additional benefit for pet battlers.

Sorry for not agreeing with you!

Hi there and thanks for the reply

I know there are 'companions' in the game for hunters, mages and they do battle for toons. This is all cool and fun.

When Blizz. decides to make a pet a battlepet, though. I say battle.

I would be in favor of de-commisioning any pets that are deemed inappropriate as Battlepets.. but I will say that guilds compete in the WoW universe so maybe they could fairly compete in pet battles too... I have no strong conviction on that point though.

Personally, I don't mind the non-combat pets. Then again I come from a time when pets were for pure vanity and served no other purpose than a cute traveling companion.

The only thing that truly bugs me is that the non-combat pets often cause issues regarding rarity in the armory, which then makes things harder for collection imports. Upgrading them in-game is also not very intuitive and for a completionist like me those green slots in my Pet Journal bug me to no end. :P

Could the coding for the kites, pages, heralds, etc. be different than the other pets? If so, that could be why Blizzard has yet to make these pets battle-ready. I imagine changing the code and implementing abilities/combat animations for them is low on Blizzard's priority list. It's probably not out of the question, though. Maybe some day!
