Battlechest for $5 from login screen

Glad I waited to do my recruit-a-me. Only saved $5, but every dollar counts!
Sale on MoP as well, only $10 for that.

If you purchase the game from the Blizzard Store during the sale, do you have to use it right away or can you save it for a future RAF? It's the digital battlechest so I'm not sure how it works or if it's any different than the physical $5 battlechests.

When you purchase it from Blizzard as a "gift" you get an email with the autherization key, which you can use whenever you feel like it.
I bought one 3-4 months ago, and only just used it.
Today I bought 3 more for the rest of the RAF pets
