...and here I was hoping it'd be a baby yak :( (a la stunted shardhorns and clefthoof runts)

Those are a bit goat-ish for my liking, I was meaning more like just a scaled down version of the regular yak like the shardhorns and clefthooves.

That's definitely a goat and not a yak! It even spawns near the mountain goat mobs.

I too would absolutely love a yak pet, I hope we'll get one at some stage.

Also baby goats are called kids, so its name is a indication to what type of animal it is. And a young yak is normally called a calf.

^^; I was comparing it to the old Dwarf mounts which, in comparison, makes the kid look more Yak-ish then goat-ish. I havn't gotten to that area yet (chose to train my pets before goin to panda land lol) so I didn't know they spawned near mobs called goats. But I looked up the Yak mounts and do see that the kids dont look anything like them and must agree that baby yak's would be oh so cute.

(also, for some reason, I'm pretty sure I've always heard baby yaks refereed to as kids....i dont know why since looking it up your right, there calfs not kids...I blame my midwest heritage XD )
