Wonky reset times with the Celestial Tournament

Post by Luciandk » October 1st, 2013, 3:39 am

Last week I did the tournament at 3am at weekly reset, it had reset again when I returned at 10am.

So I tried to do it again the same way today. Lo and behold, it reset twice again. Once I finish this one, I will be 2/3 towards Chi Chi and only missing Yu'la.

Edit: Finished. now to wait for next week for Chi-chi: :)

Someone posted on the WoW battle pet forums about this the first week the tourny was available. I wish I didn't have a life/job so I could be on at 4 am when the server resets.

If I were you I would be weary of such methods, Blizzard has been known to take extreme measures when they identify behaviors that can conceivably be thought of as exploits.

This is precisely the case here, since the game makes it quite obvious that the normal completion rate should be once a week.

It really doesn´t affect anything. The pets cannot be caged or sold, and there isn´t anything worthwhile to really buy with the coins after you have the 4 pets. More power to you. Not really a big deal if you have all the pets a few weeks before me as long as they don´t add anything else to use those coins for.

They could for example reduce the amount of coins you need to buy a Marked Flawless Battle-Stone.
Cause that's something I would buy once I have all 4 pets. But 3 weeks to get 1 stone? Seems a bit much and ye, some ppl will think it's not worth the time.

Then again, the quest gives good valor points and I'm sure after 12 weeks most ppl won't find it to difficult anymore.

Which is all the more reason not to do this. The fact is that you're exploiting a bug to do a quest more often than is intended, getting rewards that shouldn't have been possible in that time frame. Whether you think that's a big thing or not isn't going to have much impact on how long of a ban you get if Blizzard decide to crack down on it. It's pretty obvious that the exploiting was intentional.

I would not even do it if you got a battle-stone every week. The other daily tamer quests can be used to level up pets AND give battlestones. Why would I do basically 7 battle tamers that don´t level up pets for a battle stone. The tournament will basically be dead after 12 weeks for me. It is just too time consuming, even though I have fast win teams for all of them.

As for VP... It is 150 Vp.. I do mine on an alt at the end of the week after I have the 50% bonus.. and it is still ´meh´.. heroic dungeons and scenerios are absurdly fast now that everyone is doing them at 496 ilvl.

I wouldn't say there's "absolutely noting you may spend your coins on" - an extra 50% Bonus Food a week is a nice addition. Since I finished all available Trainers now without any problems (but I admit, I have over 400 lvl 25 with nearly all possible breeds available) I also have no problems to do this 15min tour once a week. And as already mentioned: it gives a nice VP boost (Although I can't say heroic scenarios are much faster per se, I have seen some of those ~496ilvl DDs doing a nice 30k dps overall. You don't want to do a second scenario for days if you had TWO of those in your group ... ).
