Have I been wasting my bonus rolls?

I've been after Son of Animus since it was released. I run that wing in LFR a few times a week, using my bonus rolls on the last boss every time. So far "streak protection" has done nothing for me, btw.

This is what I read in the most recent PTR patch notes:

Any Battle Pet that could be awarded from a Throne of Thunder boss on Raid Finder difficulty can now be won from a bonus roll, in addition to the standard bonus roll reward.

...

Does this mean that until 5.4, pets aren't able to drop from bonus rolls? I could have sworn we had confirmation of people getting Living Sandling and Son of Animus from bonus rolls.

I know how you feel. I still do them, though, because I think in my mind that in some sick, twisted way the rolls might actually work in my favor.

This. Nice to know all the people "confirming" that they "definitely" got theirs from a bonus roll were so reliable. :/

I still use my tokens on the bonus rolls too, even weeks after hearing that from Mumper. I guess habits are hard to break.

Honestly- I wonder about this. If someone got it from a 'bonus roll' I wonder if they are thinking the bag instead? I got my Ji-khun hatchling out of a bag I received in LFR. Could people be confusing this with the direct roll option?

It's entirely possible. I know my mind drifts while doing LFR (or I do other things at the same time on another monitor), so it's easy to not pay close attention.

Another possibility, although I'm not sure how likely it is, is that they received it along with their "first loot of the week" for a boss, but didn't notice it, rolled, and then guessed the pet came from the roll.

Short answer to original poster is "yes". So now I'm saving mine so I have 10 ( and the quest in my log) mogu coins when 5.4 hits... so my 4300 lesser charms are even more useless. Hope Blizz makes them some kind of currency at some point.

Edit: How about a pet for 10,000 of them woohoo!
