Battle stone upgraded pet, reverted back to uncommon?

I used a battle stone to upgrade my Lvl 9 Mechanical Panderan Dragon and I put it up on the AH. He didn't sell and the pet was returned to me in the mail as usual but now he isn't upgraded anymore, he is back to uncommon? I'm not sure what happened here how he lost his upgrade? Anyone know what conditions cause a pet to lose a battle stone upgrade? Thanks!

I would think its a bug. I'd open a ticket, but not sure if you'll get anywhere.

Jeez that's a bummer. Never heard of that happening and i sell alot of upgraded pets that way. Id put in a ticket if you haven't already.

When the battle stones first came out, there were a few reports of this happening when people logged back in - i.e. their newly rare pet was no longer rare and the stone had still been used.

I've not heard anything for a long time, so hopefully this is an isolated incident, so yes drop them a ticket!
