Blizzard's new game could be another 'tcg' pet place
http://www.wowhead.com/news=211571/heartstone-heroes-of-warcraft-announced
Blizzard is currently taking the stage to announce their surprise at PAX East. We'll be updating this post with information as it comes in.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
It's "a charming collective strategy game set in the Warcraft universe." You can play as mighty heroes from 9 World of Warcraft classes. It is a card game.
Blizzard created a new team for the project
They wanted something less serious and back to their roots
The goal was to have fifteen developers, experiment more, and be more versatile
Knowing the current tcg game, who else is thinking that this will have plenty of activable pet tieins for the main Warcraft game?
Edit: More info with a lot more pics. Looks quite juicy with potential!

Edit 2: You can opt in for beta testing in your bnet account management. Just did it.

Re: Blizzard's new game could be another 'tcg' pet place
I honestly hope not, I don't like that some of the pets from TCG now sell for hundreds of dollars. I consider these pets unobtainable just like past Blizzcon and CE (Collector Edition) pets from expansions that are no longer being produced. I just can't justify the cash needed to get those pets.
As for the game itself, I won't play it. I am not a fan of card style games, real or computer based cards. Hopefully being FTP (Free To Play) they won't make a CE edition so I won't have to buy a game I won't play just to have the CE Pet....
I will consider buying the pets if they do add them to the game itself, as long as they are reasonable, like a few of the TCG pets I have purchased. I will never have a complete set of the TCG pets though seeing as they are to expensive to obtain either by buying outright or buying the cards and hoping I get a pet card.
My 2 coppers,
Morlis

Damn you, Blizzard.
Not only will I play it, I will likely spend money on it.
Especially if there are loot cards that give you pets.

*Sigh*
I do not play TCGs. I spent WAY too much time and money on Magic cards... never again!

Re: Blizzard's new game could be another 'tcg' pet place
I wouldn't be surprised if they added purchasable pet loot cards or some sort of loot card to this new TCG game. It's free to play, so they have to make a profit on it somehow.
I just hope that the pets don't cost an arm and a leg. The switch to "super rare" TCG pet cards to "common" was a nice touch IMO, even if that meant reskins of existing pet models. It makes them less of a "must have" and more of a bonus treat, and now we're not as pressured to shell out tons of money for a TCG pet.

Appearently you will be able to earn and craft your own cards ingame, with buying them being the faster option for getting more cards. And it appears to be for PC initially, before branching out to more platforms. First blabber in wow had it being a smartphone only game, but its clearly more platform flexible.Maizing wrote:*Sigh*

Will there be any loot cards, such as codes to redeem in WoW for a mount or pet?
Dodds: Hearthstone is a self-contained game. It's going to be fun on its own playing with other Hearthstone players, and then we can think about connections to other games in the future. But for now, Hearthstone is stand-alone.
