They can be fished from pools right? Just checking :)

This is a good question, I checked El's Extreme Angling and seems some pools will work, but not all.

Each pool type in Pandaria is expected to contain at least one of the four Tiny Carps.

What about the "crowded" schools where the fisherman tells you to go for the day? Anyone got a carp from those?

Edit: I just caught Tiny Blue Carp from a crowded redbelly madarin school... so YES!!

The article on El's site said no drops after 14,000 casts. *groan* I can feel my sanity slipping away just thinking about that much fishing.

Or you just spent your luck in advance from the next five years. :P

Did you fish open water or pools?

I haven't tried my luck yet, but drawing on experience for some reason Blizzard thinks stuff that can be fished up has to be really hard to get (the sea pony being an exception), compared to other sources, such as the new raptors. :(

I'm already having nightmares about fishing for my Giant Sewer Rat. That took me all of Wrath and half of Cata before I got him.

Now I have to fish for 4 pets.

No luck yet..fished for over 2 hours in "crowded" pools yesterday...lots of salmon, no pets. Similar story in open water. Where do we fish to find these things? I am willing to farm, but I don't want to waste hours and hours at the wrong sites. I hope this won't be as annoying as the scourged whelping or the minifernal.

A carp are pretty much (or should be) as rare as the Sea Turtle, so multiply that by four and you find that minfernal and whelp are in the kindergarden compared with the carps...

Not sure if someone posted already, But yes they can. I got a tiny white carp out of a reef octopus school. So I'm assuming the others can be caught from pools all over pandaria.

It's always difficult to judge any changes in catch rates on (very) rare fish, because the people that post early tend to be the ones that got lucky, while those that require thousands of casts won't report anything for weeks. As it happens, I caught my first (live) Tiny White Carp in about 500 catches... but then we can argue I was due one after 14,000 Carp-less PTR catches.

I just caught my first one, the green carp, after roughly 2000 catches. About 95% of that was done in Glowing Jade Lungfish pools, since we've gotten the Jade forest for Fish of the Day several days in a row. It could have been worse, but I really hope I wasn't being lucky catching it then.

I think I got extremely lucky on my first two carp.

I caught my blue carp from open water in Vale (The lake east? of Shrine of Seven Stars) after only about 80 casts. Then later that night I caught my white carp from a pool (just a normal pool) right beside the Temple of the White Tiger in Kun-Lai after probably ~100 more casts.

I spent some time on two different days fishing at Rikkitun Village (open water) to try for the red carp. I think I'm up to ~500 casts for it and no luck yet. Yesterday I fished up 6 stacks of salmon when the fish of the day was Stormstout Brewery but haven't gotten lucky on the green carp yet either.

Some people seem extremely lucky, not counting casts but I spent literally months trying for a sea turtle and created so many fish feasts I had a semi hauling them around and still have some to this day on alts and been fishing pools ever since and still no turtle so if a carp drops or turtle I will likely first faint. Good luck all.

Can anyone recommend a good add on to count attempts for these? I was hoping Rarity would handle it, but they are not int here automatically, and given the crazy varying locations these come from, I am not sure it's even possible to add them in myself.

I like to put numbers to the whittling away of my sanity :)

Hey, I use the Fishing Buddy addon to count casts. It can be downloaded via Curse. It counts how many attempts you have from one specific location, but I don't know if there's a way to count your total casts from all over Pandaria.

I don't know if I'd want to count. It would be depressing to think about for me when I looked at the number...
