Level 25 Pet Leveling Stone for Sale

Postby Mirith » April 3rd, 2017, 11:51 am

In case you didn't know, Now you can buy the purple level directly to 25 stone from the Garrison Lady whose name I can't remember for 45 Pet Badges.

Was this an undocumented change, or am I just blind? I can't find anything in the patch notes about this.

I had known this, but I can't recall from where.

I think it's way too few. I mean, compare with it the price of standard levelling stones (2-3 each). Of course the yellow stuff is needed more if one has a bunch of mid-level pets rather than of the fresh ones, so don't take it equally, but anyway.

And The Very Best now looks very "meh", like it wasn't already… since the Sign is up, one should already have made use of it!

Is it the time to stroke my beard, hunch my back and finally start muttering "Back in Pandaria we weren't so spoilt"?!

No, I'm pretty liberal, I'm not even THAT "old". But there is some redundancy going there.

If you have a hundred pets to level it is pointless and if you have only one why not just do a few trainers.
Flawless Stones are a lot more practical and they sell for 2k to 8k depending on your server.

The vendor ones are bound to account.

Converting Pet Charms to gold is beyond my current scope as I have many duplicate pets already I can't find a buyer for. Sorry :S

I "think" this was added with the most recent patch.

I'm considering getting a few. I am soooo busy trying to actually GET all the Legion pets that I really don't have time to level them at the moment. It would be nice to get some instant leveling for some of my favourite level ones. :)

I am buying them as I can level pets via some of the WQ Trainers while gaining more charms. I still have about 100 pets to go to max level, so its a way to achieve it over time.

More my question was this a stealth change? I saw nothing in the patch notes.

It would seem that way, yes. Added in unannounced either last minute, or it went unnoticed until the patch went live.

They're useful for me since I'm sick of leveling at this point, I have all the toys and pets bought with charms, all my pets are rare and I can't be bothered to fiddle with converting additional stones to gold via the ah.

Ok I wasn't crazy and that was indeed new. Had a few people argue with me in my guild saying it has always been there. I was like I had never seen it before and I buy pets with charms to sell all the time

Part of why I posted this. My guildie pointed it out and my response was "When did that get there?"
Had I known, I wouldn't have spent 300 pet charms on leveling stones 2 nights before the patch went live.

Thanks. I had completely missed this. I too don't remember it being there and didn't see any info on it for the patch. One happy, lazy, pet leveler.

That being said, I still have to farm pet charms, which is somewhat an ugh reaction.

Kinda strange to see this one now ... when I am way up there in the pets, and I do not have a multitude of pets to level ... just the one I get when I get it, and already finished the Argent Tournament series and got all those pets ... I'm planning on looking at the AH and seeing which pets are next, and do'able, and which ones are not, and pretty much have to be bought.

All in all, now that all my pets are levelled, this stone seems kinda ... unnecessary ... specially when I have mounted up umpteen number of stones, for humanoids, aquatic, critter, beast, dragonkin, and Pet Charms.

With the Safari hat, anytime I get a new pet, it's off to Ashlei and then use whichever stones are needed to finish it up ... so all in all that big Purple stone is not needed for me, as acquiring pets, for me, is now like ... one per week? IF THAT, and I'm lucky? Anyone can do a couple of dailies to grab some Pet Charms ... and I have 6 characters to do so, if needed and could easily pile up over 100 PC's in one day.

While it's not a bad change by itself, seems to me that it's not too well-thought.

The price of this stone is lower than that of regular leveling stones (even if you were to buy random ones, that cost 2) and being available on demand sorts of takes away from the other sources, like the one-off from Menagerie (which makes it feel somewhat "special"), the Falcosaurs, and the Pet Battle Weekend Event (which is account-wide, therefore non-repeatable on alts, and rewards nothing else).

In light of this, I believe that the stone should be more expensive across the board (along the lines of 60 charms perhaps?) and/or the Pet Battle Weekly rewarding a handful of Pet Charms instead of the stone; that we could then spend on the stone itself or in any other Pet, Supply or Toy of our choice.

Also, while at it, Fel-Touched Battle Stones (the ones that grant 5 levels) should probably be for sale as well, even if only for convenience :P

Agreed.

The price for a 5 level stone would be (if the math sticks!) about 15 PC's, and 24 levels would be about 72 PC's. Thus a 25 cost is actually a bargain, except that most of us are experienced Pet Battlers and Collectors and you will not, in most cases, use that stone at all ... you will take the newbie to Ashlei (for example, or Murlocs, or Squirt) and get to level 12, be it as a Green or a Blue (Rare) and the rest of your shopping is for only 13 levels! Thus, it would normally cost you only 39 PC's or perhaps you will have already saved 10 level stones from the Tuesday Warlords! THEN, you only need to spend 9 PC's to finish up your pet!

These days, I only need the Blue stone to make the Pet a Rare, but in some cases, I already have about 4 different Blue Stones for various classes, for example.

Again, the lack of thought pretty much showed that the person/persons that thought this up, obviously do not do any Pet Battling, and neither do they collect anything, figuring that anyone would be interested in an instant upgrade ... one stone, and it's blue and 25 ... which on its own is not a bad deal. For most of us, it's a dead deal, since we will actually save the PC's as much as possible and get as much out of the Squirt/Ashlei/Murlocs kind of Pet Bonus ... not to mention the Pet Bonus week, when your pet with Ashlei goes all the way to like 17 or 18 ... in one shot ... I would rather save the PC's in my case.

I know this thread is a month old but farming pet charms is a lot easier with Boon of the Zookeeper. Combined with the buyable level 25 stone, it is ridiculously easy for new pet battlers to get involved with pet battling. A new player doesn't have even have to level a single pet to 25 (or upgrade an outdated Draenor Garrison). Just stick Boon of the Zookeeper on your most played character (or all of them) and it won't take long to get the first level 25 pet without really doing anything extra for it.

As I mentioned, for us experienced Pet Batlers, this is one of those ... so what things ... but yes, for new players it might be a nice thing, specially as today you have at least one or two Pet Battles that will give you some Pet Charms. And if you have two or three characters at 110, you can also get Pet Charms there and mail them to your "main" Pet Batler. (Can't mail the blue stones, btw ... just the level stones and the charms ).

But in the case of a Blue dropping on another character, I will just wait until I have a Greenie to turn Rare and then that one character does it. No biggie ... although it is annoying to not be able to have everything in one bag, not in 5 or 6 as is my case. Thus, my other characters only play the Pet Battles to get more Charms. Rarely do they gain anything else.

But I think that we should be helping the newbies with the bonus' material first, from the Murlocs, Squirt and Ashlei, and then the daily Garrison and weekly Battlemasters, as ways to save Pet Charms, so you can get along faster and further. The thought that one rock will do this, is not the correct thing to say I am thinking, since we know how to save a few of these and the newer folks would (maybe) still be trying to learn things. But even my neighbor is too lazy to do the Murlocs, Squirt and Ashlei thing and uses the stones first ... I keep reminding him that it is more work in the end, but it's hard getting past his meds for his MS disability.

I can't even remember when I last went to Draenor to battle Ashlei. I just don't bother with it anymore. I do have 8 max level characters that have the Boon though. I was doing the pet battle WQs on all my characters for a little while, which resulted in hundreds of pet battle charms a day but I can't be bothered to do that all the time. It gets old fast.
